Hey did anyone read the blog on http://blog.carazoo.com/2008/07/jetta-competes-with-laura.html I was also surprised to know that Jetta competes with its own cousin. But don't you all think that Jetta is a fabulous car.

My perception and like is,..,The one minus point with Laura is it is with Black interior, you feels dark room or seated in theater without light, when Jetta with beige interior ,so you feel pleasant with positive energy.

both the cars are comparable & they are from the same family.

it depends on one's choice, if some wants more features & style than laura is the car to go for or else the jetta.

I don't see how the Jetta is more "techincally" advanced than the Laura. It has EXACTLY the same drivetrain!

As per my observation, the plus points for the Jetta are the 2 additional rear airbags, Paddle Shift & a better (more comfortable) suspension & the very useful 4 year 100000KM warranty.

The plus point for the Laura are the Xenon Head-Lamps + Washers, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Front & Rear Parking Sensors, Heated & Electrically Operated Seats, Music system with 2 MORE speakers (Total 12 vs 10 in the Jetta), the Sun Roof & factory fitted mud-flaps (Yes, the VW is missing MUD-FLAPS!).

So I dont think that "New is Better" is always applicable. Without a doubt the Jetta is pathetic in terms of value for money (it costs a bit MORE than the Laura). But it is a better car to drive (ESPECIALLY on pot-holed Indian roads).

Alas, if only VW would provide a decent engine in place of the dated 105PS garbage, the Jetta might actually do the trick.
