Volkswagen will launch a cheaper version of the Passat by Diwali,
powered by a common-rail motor which produces about the same power as
the current Pumpe Düse engine. Ex-showroom prices should start at Rs 20
lakh. The car
will have a manual gearbox, and a DSG variant will be launched
subsequently. The Volkswagen Group is moving away from unit injector
technology and adopting common-rail injection instead, which has gained
