Hi Guys,

Motor vehicle Act applies both to two wheeler and four wheelers.

I got a bike but this subject is so interesting that i am sharing my bike experience in carwale.com

Well, Everybody suggested to take NOC first and then go to ur state where u want to take ur vehicle and get re-register.

Some suggested to take NOC, enjoy for one year and then re-register.

Guys , I may be wrong but, I travelled to Indore taking my Delhi Bike, only thing they want is one yellow card where ur local address of Indore is present (which was my hostel at that time).

Then i drove my bike to Ahmedabad. for 1 year nobody stopped me.

Then i move to kolkata- Strict place , I used to drive in the most gentleman manner, behind the trucks, buses so that traffic men can't spot me.

Now i am in Chennai- I had been to RTO Delhi to fulfill their reqirements so that i can drive my bike freely in Chennai, i prepared all my papers, got fresh insurance, pollution certificate, But what i came to know was shocking.

These buggers told me If u will take NOC from Delhi, then ur bike records ie. registration number will be wiped out from Delhi records.

This mean i cant think of taking my bike back to delhi, coz chennai is not my ultimate destination, i need to move back to Delhi for life time.

So if i'll take NOC from Delhi, Re register in Chennai (RTO will give me TN number which i dont like, Common,,,, Delhi number has its own Jalwa)

If within 1 year or suppose 2 years, iwill go back to Delhi, then again i have to apply for NOC from Chennai RTO, re register again in Delhi and Pay tax again on my same bike. If at that time some rule came into force and they will deny my application.

AM I STUPID.

I talked to high official in Delhi RTO, they said Supreme Court has denied the application for cases like this. Legally U cant drive another state number vehicle in ur current location. If only its a commercial vehicle , then u can have national permit, which is not our piece of cake.

So the moral of the story is If u have already applied for NOC, then anyways ur name will be thrown out from the system, so don't wait for one year, immediately apply for re registration.

And other way round is If u know u will be coming to ur previous location , then dont go for NOC, Drive safely, No body stops u, Alway keep ur original RC, Pollution, Insurance with u. They will come to know that u r respecting the system. Thy will ask for 200/ 300 rs. Much cheaper than paying Road Tax.

So in the end , only two options are there- Apply for NOC or NOT.

Guys , Plz dont mind if i hurt anybody's feeling.

I am also facing exactly the same situation. The arguement given by you may not be legal but according to me it is the best and logical solution available. I too recently got shiftef to Mumbai from Delhi and planning to take my bike here. Just wanted to know if your story will hold true in Mumbai as well or not, I am ready to take that risk only if it doesnt cost me a lot. I am not goiung for NOC or re registration and all. Just tell me whther i shud pay the road tax in Mumbai and how. I also plan to go back to to Delhi in 1-2 years so no point getting my bike registered in mumbai. And is it really true tht taking an NOC from the home city of vehicle will mean my Vehicle will no longer have a Delhi registration?? Are u sure of this fact? Also If any one could suggest me some Packers n Movers who charge reasonable rates to shift my bike from Delhi to Mumbai. Please help.

Basically the Indian RTO rules don't make you feel like it's one country. The rules remain because there's a 'system' that makes its living on them. Imagine, if life were easier for us, how will the RTO office economy survive?

It's surprising the despite the size of vehicle-owning mobile population, there's no widespread protest against these insensible rules. It's time for an ANTI-RTO site that govt. should read he he

Hi Buddy,

Mumbai is a place where cars and bike from all over India are there. There will be no hassles in Mumbai. Just have ur paper updated. And yes, this is true that when u apply for NOC, ur bike records from Delhi will be closed and u have to re-apply for registration if u come back to Delhi.

Thanks Sameer,

Well guys after much thinking I have brought my bike to Mumbai from Delhi and have been using it for the last 15 days without any hassles. I dint go for any NOC registration or Tax procedure. Simply continuing with my Delhi registration. Also got it shifted for Rs 3000 which I think is very decent rate for Pulsar after much market reserach about packers and movers companies. Plus they picked up the bike from my home in Delhi and delivered it to my doorstep in Mumbai. A total hassle free experience. But I miss Delhi roads

Cheers!!

Hi Rishi,

I used services of Skywing packers and Movers http://www.skywingpackers.com/

booked everything on the phone only. No need to visit their office plus they took charges only on delivery of bike, very satisfying experience. Also they would deliver any accessories like helmet cover etc free of charge.

hello members

i have Delhi registered vehicle and have moved to Bangalore since 2003.

I have paid Life time tax for karnataka in 2003 and obtained the NOC from Delhi RTO in 2005. But i havent changed the DL registration to KA.

Im planning to sell the car in Bangalore now, but some buyers who showed interest say they have to pay Life time tax again and also penalty from 2005 till date for number change.

would request knowledgable members here to help me with right information.

thanks in advance

keyan
