Very true Binoy. We must stick to the topic than keep on going off-topic.

The biggest car I have ever driven is a Ford Endeavour. I drove it for a 50 kms stretch and I must say I found it too heavy for me (am a small build person). The car was giving me an impression that I am being driven by it. Anyways, a nice experience.

Hi Binoy, Know a little bit regarding this car. This was a part of slew of new car launches that Nissan made from its new Canton, Missisipi plant. This vehicle was based on the Nissan Titan full sized truck; which was Nissan's first attempt at that segment. Nissan hurried through the design phase to launch all of the new products in their bid to regain market share.

As you rightly pointed out, the armada was supposed to compete with the Escalades and the lincoln navigators of the world. However some of the following reasons caused its failure:

Odd side view styling.

Low fuel economy

lots of quality issues at launch that were subsequently addressed

design issues due to size of the body (too large)

Even though it has independent rear, such vehciles are basically trucks and so will always suffer in the Ride and handling aspects.

Interiors were well done, however you can spot commonization with other nissans all over.

Basically could not take much sales from the escalade or the Lexus trucks which have great appeal. The escalade for a great powertrain and the lexus for overall value, in spite of lexus having leaf springs and the escalade having a multi link rear axle.

Regards,

kk

KK thanks for the info, was of great help, but about the sale...well the Armada is a great sales success in the middle east where is far outsells the escalade/yukon/suburban and the expedition..put together..the Arabs live on the 'size envy' bit and here the Armada wins. Also the poor fuel milage is not a concern in these parts.

It's true. The middle east market is quite different and cannot be compared to other areas. For instance some time back, I heard that the Chevy caprice was one of the more popular cars in the middle east. I was quite surprised 'cause it is a really old design and mostly used by cops or taxis in the US.

The largest I have driven is the Hummer H2. I personally do not care for big cars. Cars are best usually in the Accord/civic size. Beyond that it is very difficult to get good dynamics. One of my friend has a safari extended by DC.

The biggest vehicle I have ever been is a 120 Tonne mining truck(by wabco)  that they use in iron ore mines. It is really awsome feeling to stand along side the operator and look down. With tires over 6 feet they are the ultimate trucks.

Seems a very old thread...but I biggest car I have driven is Tata Safari and am still driving it. I just love this car and the drive. Prior to safari, I have driven Lancer, Skoda..in big cars

About Nissan Armada...The review was very put together by Binoy. Specially the last part -  the figures of fuel efficiency and price. They way it was put was really very nice

I wish I could drive such big cars some day...
