Need a car to commute to work. However I want something fun and must have good performance. Milleage not an issue

Following are the first once that come to mind:

Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tuscon,

It would have been a no brainer if New accord (not sure of price), Mitsubishi outlander were available.

Any recommendations???

wait for the new accord which si expected this year end , its stunning and simply Fantastic , the second choice would be to wait for the Honda civic Hybrid , and finally if u r in soo hurry then go for the CRV or grand vitara

from your choices i guess you are looking at SUV's, the obivious choice will be the
base hondaCRV - cost only 70k more than your budget
also a close second will be the
Captiva - its disel but its about 1.6lac dearer.

Personal choice would be a toss between the Skoda Laura 1.9 PD and the Honda Civic VTEC top of the line.

As for the vitara and the tuson they are 'lemons' and in my opinion should not be on your list.

Thanks a lot.

I don't really love suvs. However sedans in this price range are too small. My other car is a civic automatic.

I am looking for something that will be comfortable in the city and can be fun to drive occasionally. Mostly driven by a driver.

please offer suggestions on sedans too. I will test drive the shortlisted vehicles.

Thanks again!

After reviewing more online, it appears only two cars have that extra personality; new accord and potentially the new Outlander.

Accord, I am very familiar with. When I was  selling my old Accord, I had to stop people from harassing me for wanting to take it from me and outbidding each other.  I have seen the new one. Looks good. If it drives like the acura tsx than there can be no equal. Question is when and how much? Only issue is,  FWD.

If they ever introduced a RWD or AWD like the ACURA RL, WOW! look out 3 series and the rest of the German cars.

Mitsubishi Outlander seems like a great vehicle. AWD and all the rally based gizmos. One of my dream cars is the evo. If it comes remotely close to evo, than that might be the perfect vehicle for India.

I don't care for the CRV. I think this is a minivan or microvan.More of a soccor mom's mobile.

The Suzuki GV seems low on power and refinement.

Tucson: just plain ugly.(Need to see it closer though)

Sonata; Not sure. Drove one long time ago. Seemed soft and appeared to be a poor man's Camry.

Captiva: Does not seem worth it.

Skoda Laura: Appears small. I will test drive. However seems to be loaded with technology. might be fun.

However both(Accord/Outlander)  may be introduced late in the year.

My  first cutl list for testing based on your feedback: Accord, GV, Tuscon, Laura

KK the Acura wont be launched til the Infinity and the Lexus brands are launched.
Dont hold your breath on the Outlander and for that matter the Fortuner the launch dates are anyones guess.
TD the DSG gearbox enabled Skoda Laura 1.9TDi you might come out impressed.

I happened to see the new Accord (Black) in china. I was quite dissappointed. The front is changed to look more squarish like their SUV's. It looks just like the Honda Ridgeline. The rear looks like a Chris Bangel (BMW 5 series raised trunk) design. I t might grow on us but initial feeling was not so exciting. It had seen it before in silver and I thought it looked good.

Interior design  has not changed much althought the vehicle is bigger than before and I am sure it will perform well.

Hi Sri, Here is the update

New Accord: Too expensive as it is likely going to cost 2~3 lacs more

CRV- Test Drove and liked it but cost is too high at 21 Lacs.

Suzuki GV- dealer can't even get me one for test drive. However it is unlikely choice due to low power. Out of the list

Hyundai Tuscon: yet to test. but seems likely candidate

Hyundai Sonata embera: Now on my radar thanks to your advice. need to test.

Skoda: yet to test. But seems too small and unlikely candidate. I don't care for VW's quality reputation that much.
