Thanks for the info on test drive Pankaj - I was expecting this one to be sluggish and yes the fun is robbed.

Width doesn't matter much as Indica being lesser or equally wide to a swift can seat 5 people comfortably as compared to 4 in a swift.

Pankaj - what was your pick on the interiors and the first of its kind, biege seats and dull grey interior?

Pankaj,

Any comments on the driver seat comfort? I noticed that the Vdi version does not have seat adjust (vertical) as also steering adjust. So while you drove the Zdi version did you feel the need to adjust the steering or the seat to reach a comfortable driving seating position?

I felt that in the Dzire boot the suspension seems to intrude. Could this be true? And how did you feel about the rear seating space?

Thanks.

Bhushan

My test-drive was for only 10 kms or so.  It was on a road that leads to highway (ring road type), so due to some traffic, I couldn't give much attention to aspects other than engine performance & pick-up that I have stated.

As such, I did not feel the need to adjust the seat or the steering.  I cannot comment on the rear space, as I was driving - but it appears to be same.  I also did not have a look at the boot & suspension intrusion you have referred to.  However, I feel rear suspensions have been improved upon due to extra boot/weight.

I hope to test-drive it again - on highway this time & for longer distance.  I will then be able to comment on features, finer-points etc.

I would not call it sluggish but like I have stated before, Swift has slightly better pick-up & acceleration - you feel the difference (slight) especially when AC is on & while sudden acceleration.

However, as I have said before, while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear, there's a slight hitch in transmission flow of smoothness.  I tried this 3/4 times with variation in speed & acceleration but each time I experienced so.  I find this unusal, as I have not experienced so in any of the cars I have driven / test-driven until now.

Regarding interiors, features & finer-points, like I just said in my previous post to Bhusan, I am not in a position to comment as I could hardly give attention to those aspects, as my test-drive was short (10 kms) & on a ring-road that had some traffic.  But I will soon be test-driving it again - this time on highway & for longer distance.  I will post my detailed review thereafter.

Mr. Anonymous..no need for spy pics anymore as the car as already being launched & people have actually seen it..you seem to be in some lost world..

Anyways..any idea on when is an official test drive report for Dzire is going to come up on carwale..or for that matter on any expert car site..I dont see it rite now any any of them..have checked up autocar, bs motoring, top speed etc..

Any one has any idea..I am specifically looking for test drive reports of petrol version..most of the people on other istes have posted rvws on the diesel version & not petrol one..

I was waiting for DZIRE for quite some time. On 28th took the test drive. I feel the beauty was worth a wait. The 'plusses' in it as an entry level sedan are as follows:

1) Beautiful exteriors, especially the rear. It is not at all ugly, as feared by many. To the contrary, the design is stylish and I am sure will grow upon most with time.

2) Tried and tested swift engines.

3) Wonderful mileage of Swift, especially in Diesel version (17-18 with AC in city and 22-23 on highways).

4) Trusted and wide service network of maruti.

5) Good boot space with a 30 kg addition which will not affect the performance untill the boot heavily loaded, which generally doe'nt happen in city running. On highway, anyway the average is enviable.

6) Rear space seems to be a bit more than swift hatch, although can't say this with 100% surity. Exterior definitely is more lighted.

7) Unlike the Indigo, which was a notch back of a taxi car, it is a notch back of a super stylish swift. This, I feel, is a plus.

8) Affordable prices.

Minuses:
1) Inbuilt stereo quality is satisfactory although I being a Bass enthusiast, would have been happier with more wattage.
2) Can't think of any more.
----
MARUTI has got a sure shot winner up its sleeve which is going to catch the attention of all value for money customers for whom upgrading to a sedan from a hatchback is a matter of 'Esteem' or rather now I should say a matter of 'Dzire'   And that too a quite stylish 'Dzire'.

I definitely fall in the above category and have already booked my DZIRE VDI.

Hi all,
I was awaiting DZire since the auto show. But am thoroughly dissapointed. the looks are the same .. not that i dont like a swift hatch.. but i 'd made up my mind to compromise on the looks... still with great anxity i went for the test drive on 27th morning. i was told that i was out of 100 no of people who 's registered for test drive... but i saw a car on that day.. later i got test drive in the evening.
first impression was the lack of space inside.. the whole big car you see from outside, shrinks to a small shell inside, one you get in..
interiors are neat and clean.. that's all...
nothing more than SWIFT hatch. rear legroom was one factor i dropped the plan of buying one.
second thing was that, just like the hatch, i felt a zero visibility on all sides.
with the same problem of blind spots as in the hatch..
totaly i feel that the car is a total compromise else for the attractive pricing and the maruthi tag, that earns you a better resale on the car.
other than that there is absolutely nothing that i liked about the car..

one thing is that the neatness can be felt in the interiors.. but that is the same as in the hatch.. but in my point of view.. middle class who is looking for an entry level sedan, is compromising too much.. for the price and fuel efficient diesel engine.
my advidce to all those who arre looking for a entry level sedan is to take a look at the space inside the logan.... just once before going for booking a DZire..
