I am getting an option of Red colour though I wanted Blue or Gray. Since it is no metallic colour, can a teflon coating be done on it or it is done only for metallic colours.

Also i am planning to get the anti rust done. Someone told me that there are 2 anti rust available, one is the conventional black & other is a transparent one.

My friend suggested me to get the conventional one done as you know it is done, u cannot see the transparemt ones & hence the dealer might just say u it is done. What u guys suggest.

Is there anything else one shud need to do in the new car. I will also be taking the floor mats along with it.. I am taking the Vxi version.

Hope to get some of the above accessories as complementary for delaying my pormised delivery on 14th.

Well Vishal, to the best of my knowledge all the colours in the Dezire are metallic, including the white one.

Dont go for teflon coating
:
It will crack if the car is out in the sun for long time and also if the car gets a small scratch it cannot be removed as for normal paint by using a rubbing compound.Get the car polished biannually that will be better.
Antirust will be good: go for the DINITRINOL one which is better asn ask the dealer for a proof of application.Ask for warranty for the anti-rust(if any).
Accessories?
well get mudflaps/mats and a change of horn.
Get a legal limit sun control film(Lumar or 3M) from outside the dealership.

Also ask for: warranty for the battery and try to get a car cover/steering wheel cover/car perfume to be thrown in free with the deal.Look for the 1st aid kit/extra headlamps and tool kit.

Request for a pre-registration inspection also.

Thanks Binoy for the advice. The red one is non metallic for sure & mudflaps is provided as part of standard equipment.

Do we get a seperate warranty for battery though we have 1yr warranty on car. Dont think so, not sure of it, will ask if we get one.

Dzire being a premium car, dont thik will get many freebies but will definetly give it a shot to get the maximum.

I think 1st aid kit also comes in with all maruti cars but again not sure on this.

Can u pls elaborate more on the pre-registration inspection as to whom to ask for it & what to look for etc.

Thanks again

  1. Battery Warranty is different from the Car Warranty.
  2. First-aid kit is available in all cars (Maruti & others).
  3. There's nothing like pre-registration inspection.  It's acutally pre-delivery inspection (PDI) of the car.  PDI is conducted by the dealer before delivering the car to the buyer, and certifies so in the Car Manual that comes with the car.

Thats true the red is NOT metallic but am sure that the mud flaps are NOT standard equipment.
There is a separate warranty for the battery.
The standard warranty on the car is 2YEARS and not 1.

The first aid kit is mandatory by law, but some dealer 'skip' on that too so be careful.

Ask the dealer for a pre-delivery inspection and dont let the car be registered without checking it out as once registered nothing can be done.

Check for paint finish/tyres(date of manufacture), odometer reading, functioning of the accessories.

Chassis number(note it down) check the same during delivery as dealer are know to show one car and hand over another. If possible take a camera and get some photos.
Its unlikely that they will let you drive the car(as its is not registered) but do ask- if possible take a spin around the yard(but not to the road).

If you are not satisfied with any of the above then refuse the vehicle and wait for the next batch.
There is a list of things will post in due time..

I would strongly disagree!! The PDI is the check done by the dealer. The pre-registration check is done by the customer on his own request...trust me i have been to several of these check(personal/relatives/friends) and it has brought up many defects that would be passed on to the customer.
This is not common knowledge and thats the reason for the communication.Do contact a dealer for a check and he will agree to it.In the western world the customer will be alloted a VIN number along with the booking form and the status of the vehicle can be tracked from the factory. This facility is available with Skoda in India(maybe others too-am not sure)
Also the customer has the right to reject a vehicle if found defective.
The pre-registration check is done after the PDI(most of the dealers call one day before reg).I have spoken about the check to my dealer now(as i am awaiting a Dezire VDI) and they have agreed to it.
The customer has a lot of rights, its the awareness that is lacking!!

There's nothing to disagree (so) strongly.  PDI is done by the dealer & the same when done by the buyer, as referred by you, is Pre-Registration Check. Here in India, though VIN & all that is not involved, all sensible buyers check the car before purchase but are probably not sensible enough to refer/call it as  pre-registration check.

I appreciate that there must be numurous things that one should check - apart from normal checking that a layman normally does, and that, it should preferably be done in a methodical manner.  But all this (pre-registration check) is to be done by the buyer before the car is sold / billed in the buyer's name. Therefore, the question of 'right' does not arise - you buy it only if the vehicle is found in order, else reject it in the first place.

Anyway, if you can parapharse here a few important aspects from the check-list, it will benefit all. Thanks.

Quite true Pankaj.

My uncle was involved in a bad situtation with one of his purchases.

Where he did check out a perfectly normal PDI done car by one of the major reputed manufactures but later found that the car was manufactured about 8 months prior(in the previous year)!!

He could not do anything, all the checks were done and were normal but the chassis and vin number was not checked.

Probably i feel there must have been a emotive component to my posts in this thread(this bitter experiance was the reason), please excuse if the 'strong' use of word were offensive to anyone.esp Pankaj.

Am current out of station and will post the list home once i get home.(files on the desktop and not on the lappy)
