I had booked a VXi blue but open to any colour except white. I have myself gone thru influential source to the dealer but may be there are bigger influences working out there.

Did u had a test ride of petrol one & if ys then how did u find it. anyways u can help me get a Dzire early thru ur influences...)))))

My dealer is giving me a tentative date of 25th for a silver one...but i wud love to go for a blue or gray one..

Yes - I did try out the LXi - Here there is one dealer who is getting the car painted in 2 tone colour and is promoting the car at an extra cost of about 50K - boy - it looks cool in 2 tone - I have seen a Silver / Black one and it nearly killed me by making my heart skip quite a few beats.

Comming back to the TD, I have absolutely not found any differences between Dzire and my Swift in terms of performance - I have driven the Dzire for a about a km and then my Swift on the same distance - both felt the same. Now the reason for that could be because I went to the showroom after filling my car to the brim at a nearby bunk and the Dzire had maybe about 7 or 8 liters of fuel in it.

So, in short, it was like driving a Swift with a full bottle - about 42 liters of fuel in - which by weight would be nearly 30 kgs - considering the density of petrol is around 0.7 or there about. And what is the extra weight of a Dzire - 30kgs !!!

Comming back to the whole debate of the cramped rear seat - well, not only is it cramped, it is uncomfortable when compared to the Swift - let me explain this -

The back rest on the rear seat in Dzire has been tilted back by about 5 to 10 degrees. In a Swift, a person sitting in the rear sit is more upright and hence even if the legroom was less, it was still not too bad. In case of Dzire, with the back rest laid back further, the person no longer is upright and hence the legroom now feels crampy - rather than crampy, it was feeling a bit awkward. Somehow, it feel roomy than a swift, but, I felt swift to be more comfortable to sit in for a longer duration. - Sincerely my opinion though (you might feel it to be otherway round)

Regarding the booking, let me check with my friend if there is anything and I will get back to you.

Cheers,

K Prasad

Thanks a lot Prasad for the detailed rvw & will wait for ur response from ur friend. In my case since my family members are all close 5.5' or less, it shud not create problems for me on the rear seat issue. Also I own a 800 currently & since they have travelled in it for long now..I msure sitting in Dzire back seat wud any time much much more comfortable. Also I usually drive alone. Itis only going to 1-2 times in a month that entire family will drive together that too for a very long distance.

So I hope not to face any kind of issue with rear seat issue.

Oh yes - definately - I am sure your family will find the Dzire to be perfect one then.

Hi Vishal,

I talked to my bloke at the Maruti Dealership - he has 3 cars for spot delivery - all of them are Dzire LDis - silver / biege and white.

For every other booking, he has stated a wait time of min 6 months.

Let me know if you are OK with LDi - it is a diesel, so if you have the usage to justify it, you might opt for the same.

His name is Vishal Riska - contact number is 9820077369 - if you are interested you can talk to him directly and take my reference.

Cheers,

K Prasad

Thanks Prasad but my usage is just 450-500kms per month & dont intend to go for a diesel one. Needed a petrol one. I could have got diesel from my dealer also.

Why has Maruti not produced/delivered enough petrol cars of Dzire. It seems that 60-70% of the initial production has been diesel cars only & not petrol looking at the acute shortage of petrol cars across dealers.

I donno - but, yes, I have tested an LXi - felt pretty much Swift-ish - Actually, I didn't go beyond the 3rd gear - but by that time the engine had already frowned on to me - "Dude, I am the same one as the one you have - Why the hell are you testing me?" I got the feel of the car and it was similar to Swift. Swift being a hatch, I was able to handle the traffic better.

K Prasad

Actually, as we all know, Swift & Dzire both have the same engine, CC, power & torque.  Performance is identical except that pick-up of Dzire is slightly less than Swift's - you feel the difference (marginally) especially with AC on & while accelerating from a steady speed (without changing to lower gear). This is because its kerb weight is more at the rear-end (boot space).  Interiors & features are definitely better than Swift's.

I test drove the DZire and feel that the pick up is no way less than that of swift. Afterall, how much difference would an added boot of 30 kgs make? Nothing.

With cramped interiors and dirty looks, only a few will desire to go for Dzire.

Better to opt for Indigo XL. Maruti needs to recall the Dzire immediately for changing looks.

You are mistaken dear friend. The number of people desiring the DZire is much more than you can imagine. The car sold a record number of units in first 5 days and already has a long waiting queue.

DZIRE waiting period is so loong u have to wait endlessly for the deliveries , maruti delers are making fast buck , by forcing consumers to buy accessories worth 20-30 k if they want an early delivery , same practice continues under noze of suzki officals for swift diesel versions also , wonder how it is possible in todays times without the maruti officials knowing of this practice . this practice is perevelnt across all north indian maruti dealerships , whats the status in other regions ?
