Maruti Swift Dzire launched!

Actually, as we all know, Swift & Dzire both have the same engine, CC, power & torque.  Performance is identical except that pick-up of Dzire is slightly less than Swift's - you feel the difference (marginally) especially with AC on & while accelerating from a steady speed (without changing to lower gear). This is because its kerb weight is more at the rear-end (boot space).  Interiors & features are definitely better than Swift's.

With cramped interiors and dirty looks, only a few will desire to go for Dzire.

Better to opt for Indigo XL. Maruti needs to recall the Dzire immediately for changing looks.

I have been asking dealers in Mumbai for Dzire petrol but none of the them around has been able to give me a test drive for Petrol version. Also the waiting period quoted for petrol is 3-5 months by different dealers.

Not sure why is Maruti doing so..I think production of Dzire had commenced some time in Jan or Feb but still there is such a huge shortage of it in Market especially petrol one.

Any idea if there is some problem with it or what due to which it is delaying petrol cars to such an extent. Anyone who is planning to buy a new car cannot wait for 3-4 months for the car.

I test drove the DZire and feel that the pick up is no way less than that of swift. Afterall, how much difference would an added boot of 30 kgs make? Nothing.

30 kgs means something/only like an additional kid passenger.  But the difference between the two is that this is at the rear-end (boot).  Anyway, I agree, it should not make a difference, as such - but the fact is that it has a marginal/slight difference - try it with AC on & while accelerating from a steady spead (without changing to lower gear).Importantly, drive/test-drive Swift & Dzire simultaneously - else you will not feel the difference.

I got this news from a dealer in Mumbai that the nation-wide wait period is of the order of 6 months - no dealer is confirming any dates. In case you have a booking and are willing to go for Dzire and nothing else, I suggest you to stay put with it for a couple of months as one can expect a lot of cancellations. Yes, I agree that the wait period is irritating. Unfortunately the only way to get it quickly is if you have someone extremely influencial !!!

I had done an advance booking for this car sometime in Feb itself & was assured to get the car in first lot of the cars that comes. But unfortunately, even the 1st lot has not come up..forget that not even test drive cars are available with dealers.

I am ready to wait for say a month or so as right now no other car seems to be a good option in this segment with a budget of  6 Lacs.

But just wanted to be sure that there are no problems with te car because of which Maruti is not delivering cars..not even demo ones. It shud be worth the wait..

What is the expected delivery for the one u have booked Kvsk.

Hi Vishal,

If this piece of news comes from the dealer that even the first lot os also not delivered, then I don't know how true it is because I have personally spotted more than 3 Dzires on street - Two Arctic White one and one blue one. Got to tell you that it also depends on the color / model you have selected. The ones I have spotted were VXi / LXi. Infact, my friend who is a sales exec at a dealer over here, has suggested in the morning that there is an LDi which is available for delivery upon spot payment  - and guess what, it was gone while I was on the call itself. He has further stated that the typical wait period is of 6 months but cars are being delivered.

So, cars are comming to the dealership - I don't know if they are getting into the hands of the few influential characters around here.

I had booked a VXi blue but open to any colour except white. I have myself gone thru influential source to the dealer but may be there are bigger influences working out there.

Did u had a test ride of petrol one & if ys then how did u find it. anyways u can help me get a Dzire early thru ur influences...)))))

My dealer is giving me a tentative date of 25th for a silver one...but i wud love to go for a blue or gray one..

I have test-driven diesel verions of Dzire & Swift simultaneoulsy & have posted my observations/experience before.  I'm going to test-drive the petrol version of Dzire in a couple of days along with Swift petrol (again).  I expect the difference (marginal) between the two to be more or less same as in the diesel versions.  Anyway, I'll be posting my experience soon thereafter.
