well....maybe u r just saying that Pankaj...i mean even if u dont love to smoke......u r helpless!..rite ??....b honest....its an addiction !!...

put it this way........u aint smoking..."its" smoking u !!!....

Nicotene is in control of u Pankaj !!

U R ADDICTED !!!...accept it !...

sorry for soundin soo rude...bt buddy i kno u for a long time now..... i think dis post is goin a bit personal.... bt y not....

n yes...i'll b very happy if u prove me Wrong in my above statement!!!!

d argument abt "offending" or takin care of family members is a nevr ending topic.....we'll need a  new thread for that...since we mite go totally off-topic,and way too  "educative"...

till then...  Boss ur pending demands r increasing !!....add one more person in ur "Cigarette Choro" list !!

hehe...

Yes, it’s an addiction for sure – I not only accept it but admit it.  I didn’t mean to shy away by saying that I love to smoke.  Rather, I love to smoke because it’s an addiction & for the fact, as rightly pointed out by you, the nicotine is in control of me.

By saying that I take care not to offend family members & others, I mean I don’t smoke when we are together in a room or in my department/office – I make it a point to leave the place & smoke elsewhere.  But yes, that doesn’t justify my smoking.

Even while driving in city, with or without family, I don’t smoke.  But while driving long distances, as it’s not feasible to have stops/breaks just for my smokes every half an hour or so, I smoke in the car (with all the window glasses open; while AC continues to be on).  Again, it doesn’t justify my smoking.

I, of course, am not tendering any clarification.  All this is a shame that I’m aware of but haven’t done anything about it until now – and that’s a bigger shame, I know.

I admitted about smoking (while driving) in response to your post #58 (it wasn’t off-topic).  I did so, as my conscience didn’t permit me to shy away by not responding or by responding wrongly/dishonestly.

Your words aren’t rude – it’s because of your concern for me. Thanks.  Like I have said before, I will surely try quitting it soon

@Karan, as you would appreciate, further discussion on my personal habit would surely be off-track (please don’t misunderstand that I’m trying to avoid it – in that case, I wouldn’t have admitted in the first place itself).

We may, however, continue to discuss in general as to why smoking is not advisable while driving.

@ Pankaj, so nice of you! But I would like to say the day what really require is Will power! my father was a chain smoker (10 packers per day), but my father's will power is too good.... if No than No!

My partner Devesh (one who is using Ikon Flari) was also a chain smoker but he quits all of sudden after marriage (he is only 24 yrs old). But my cousin Ravi ..... well he is not quitting and also a chain smoker.... but he is not like you.. he use to Smoke while driving his car. Also, he use to justify smoking that so many non-smoker are suffering from diseases than why u guys are blaming cigarette?

@Rajiv, thanks for your concern.  I sincerely understand - will definitely trying using my will power sometime

Anyway, coming back to the topic... smoking or using mobile while driving are both dangerous for obvious reasons - all of us should desist from doing so & be sensible/responsible citizens.

i dotn think the Handfree and Bluetooth has been banned in India either , only thing is u shud niot keept e mobile in ur ear and taalk , i use a bluetooth headset! moreover i myself have seen many people drivign in one hand andphone in one hand , mind in road and the person whom he is talking , especcialy in city tis really difficult , one has to change gears now and then and above that they talk in phone , i dint see anyone  being caught by driving and talking on the Phone! and u know Karana , once i visted Delhi 3 - 4 years back! and there it was really strict at that time itself of wearing a seat Bel , even passengers! but here even a person who drives will not put seat belts ( NO FINE nor any police will catch u)  but i myself put the seatbelt for my safety and also seen some fellows who have the habbit of putting the seat belts on even though they dotn catch you , thats really nice! but withou wearing a Helmet here will lead you to pay a FINE!

Sri

Karan, I suggest read through these discussions from post #21 to 26 (another thread) - on the same subject matter; interesting & meaningful you will find, and will also give answer to your query. Thanks.
