Traffic Ethics – To Stop or Not?

Please do not forget to write your comments.

i must say it was a gr8 article ...cheers to Bassameir....

its sumthing which i kept reading and visualising so easily........we spend a fqair amt of time travelling...n we all c it happenin....daily,weekly,monthly....etc etc..... but ya ..95% of us c it happen daily.....

and i really wud luv to comment on each n every view of my frns out here......but maybe later.....

for now i wud say---

u kno wat the key to all this is ?.....

15 mins !!!!

yes....... as they say "Lose an hour in the mornin n waste ur whole day finding it"...

we all in r lives r penny wise pound foolish in 1 way or the other...accept it !...

try getting up 15 mins early...... make a move early ...

get into the car just 15 mins early..... listen to sum good music..(i wud say u shuld listen to music while ur read this too)

so get into the caqr just 15 mins early....

.... u'll love driving at 50 (which is the speed limit)....drive in the middle lane......i understand ppl in the whole city would not b like you..dey wud b in the mad rush cuz they think its only "them" who's getting late..rest are all fools wasting der lives on the road....

so for d sake of  these "genius ppl"...drive in the middle lane.....at a constant speed of 50.of sum1 honks.....tke ur hand out of the window ..n wid a soft gesture ....show dem the direction towards the fast lane.......

sit back and enjoy ur drive to ur work....

yes...at Red lights too....relax..... the "15 mins" which God has gifted u today.. wouldnt let u b late.....

so b in the middle lane....if ppl honk....once again repeat the soft hand gesture.....dats it.......

even if ppl mite giv u strange frowns.....remember.."u're in ur own car..listening to good music....n enjoying ur day...".....

u wud not only reach in time....in a better mood....widout any sweat on ur forehead.....whistling ur favourite music.....    going to office ..u'll b at peace and u'll realise u'll save on Petrol too...........

d typical..."car ads "......its seems dreamy.....but yes....just try it ONCE......

15 mins is all i am asking for...

if everyone out of Us follows this...... others will get a chance to learn......not that they would learn...but yes.....we'll give them a chance......

Cars n roads are afterall, meant to make things "Easy" for us.....

cheers

well..d Cab Wala's mite not care abt r lives...... its just the money......  bt wen we're driving...  its Us..who don't even care abt r "OWN" lives....    5 seconds on d red light we guys save.....wat we lose only sum1's can tell.......   n God forbid.... if ders a mis-hap on the road..... we Guys say... "Oh no..that soo unfortunate.... i wish God gave him another chance.....he deserved one more chance".....................guys,God wont cum to answer this question to Us !...we already know the answers....... tell me honestly.......how many of Us hav got r chances on roads ?...how many times hav we Just been saved ????....how many times hav we just been saved wen its our fault ???.....

Think abt it guys .......

I do not want to take an impulsive activities to cross the road and lost my precious lives. Caution against those people violater the traffic regualtions and make a hefty fines, consciousness should be depends on ourselves, but moderate measures should be take in.

Bassameir, I bet Hyderabad would beat Lucknow for traffic rule decipline. As Hyderabad is having a substantial population of software guys returned from US, they have forgotten that we drive on the left side in India. They obey all the traffic rules outside India but once they are back they are Pathetic drivers. The Red light in Hyderabad is just a request to stop in not in hurry.... Drivers jump sinals below the cops nose. Overtaking to the full right and blocking the full road is very common without even a thought that the opposite vehicles cannot come.. How rediculous...

I agree that we should not budge even if people behind honk if are in the red light.

That's true. Have to agree with Karan here. Many times the police is not able to catch the real culprit too. They would have escaped. So no use blaming the police.

I also found that at signals the best option for me is to stop in the middle lane. That way people who are taking left (sometimes there are free left turns) can go left and those who want to violate can continue on the right lane at their own risk. But i do not budge from my lane. However i do not get into an arguement at any cost. I am sure to have avoided getting into a mess almost 2 dozen times.

I also try to be very careful at pedestrain crossings. Especially when kids are waiting to cross the road. Sometimes there are bigger vehicles (bus/trucks) which try taking U turn at the narrowest of median breaks. I normally allow them to finish their act. That way atleast a chaotic jam could be avoided.

I feel we should be having a very strict system of issuing licenses to applicants. And then again we should be having a stricter system which can take care of cancelling licenses too!! The fact that i can sometimes pay fine and get away could make me careless. I guess something like 5 offences done and the license would be cancelled.

On a personal note. My opinion is that

  • A 2-wheeler DL should be given if a person drives a 4-wheeler in traffic without any hiccups.
  • A 4-wheeler DL should be given if a person can drive LCV (mini truck) in traffic without any hiccups.

That way we get to appreciate difficulties faced by bigger vehicle drivers and would be little more careful not to cause inconvenience.

Atleast i learnt driving by using mini-trucks inside a factory. So now when i drive a car on highways, i understand that for the truck drivers (and all bigger vehicles) it is very diffcult to drive in city conditions. What with many of the drivers having driven overnight.
