Nic has answered it just perfectly for a layman.

More power means more accelaration (zoooommmm...)
More torque means more load carrying capacity. (Have you seen any trucks, tractors, ships etc. that run on petrol?)

Leave the technicalities for an engineer please.......

Yes, but it's not overnight.  We learn things gradually - as & when the need & opportunities arise.

Hi guys,

So what is the difference between Getz 1.1 and i10 in terms of power or Torque. Since both engines are same with lil modification on the Getz engine with 3 units of Torque more to balance 150 kgs more weight. Will it suffice for the performance of the engine? What will happen to the piston with 4 people sit and drive around with AC on and with frequent gear change.

Please let know.

Ravi

Getz 1.1 & i10 both are 1086 CC cars.  Both generate power of 67ps @ 5500rpm.  Getz generates torque of 102nm @ 3200rpm while i10 generates 99nm @ 2800rpm  - virtually the same.

i10 being a smaller & lighter car has better pick-up while Getz is more steady & stable - especially at high speed / highway.  Therefore, at full load & frequent change of gears & AC on, I feel i10 will perform better due to better pick-up.

In Short, i10 will be more peppy to drive than the getz. However, Getz will give you more space and a better build quality. if you have to go long distances, or travel frequently with five peole Getz would feel much more spacious and comfortable to the passengers than i10. On the other hand, i10 will be more fun to drive yourself.. However, this is only because of the size and body weight. Purely on the basis of power and torque, i10 is a better performer than getz.

Yes, very true.  In other words, one should prefer i10 if the usage is going to be more in city & Getz if on highway/long drives.
