Sivakumar - I have also heard similar stuff about Ford & may be the biggest reason I did not finally go for any Ford cars - though I had my own fascinations for the make. I have also heard that the car is power packed, from a very close friend of mine who drives the same. As for Maruti, especially in Bangalore, I must say that my experience with servicing my old car has been extremely good. But, my personal feeling is that while theirs cars perform very well, they may not be the best in styling - interiors or exteriors. Added, thinking through the history of Esteem, Baleno & now SX4, I am not sure how you would think about this.

I have been driving Viva CRDi for close to 2 years now. Terrific performance - glides, even though it is diesel & on these roads Amazing pick-up. In city with A/C on, I still get a mileage around 12kmpl. On highways, I can buy close to 22 kmpl or a bit more. Very comfortable driving wheel & braking system. The service experience so far has been very prompt & professional. So, given Verna is by the same make & incidentally an introduction after Viva pull-off, I would recommend Verna - thumbs up...

I have not booked any car as Such Mr Dey. just applied for a Loan. where I have an option to change my mind about the Car. But consider that i will not be driving my car more then 1500KMs a month. and if I go for Verna, I will be paying 3600 more rupees every month [where in Fuel I spend extra amount of around 2050 rupees if I calculate the total mileage if Sx4 as 13 [highway + city] and taking as that of Verna as 16.. as I will be driving more on Highway. So every month if I drive 1500 KM .. i save 1500 rs from extra EMI.. and also the features I think are better in SX4 like ABS EBD, Alloy Wheels and height. Please suggest .. Mohit

Hello Mohit: I think I understand your point. My take is that, in the long run, the extra cost that you have projected does not impact your pocket as bad as it looks today. You would anyways use that amount, or at least a fraction of that, towards running/ maintenance or upgradation cost for your car in one form or the other  Added, I would suggest you to look for a diesel version too. Your initial cost would be higher but that can be offset by the lower average running cost. My experience says that Hyundai has got good diesel versions too (including minimal maintenance costs) - I myself drive a diesel. Given that I originally had a pro-gasoline outlook, I must say that I have been happy so far with the performance of my CRDi. And finally, if you choose to drive more on highways, I would recommend a diesel version of Verna. Good luck

Yes, Subrajit has a point - Diesel engines/cars are more fuel efficient and are more sturdy, strong & have better longevity than petrol ones.  If you are to consider Diesel verions of Verna & Fiesta, here's a brief comparison between the two (top versions)...

  1. Fiesta ZXi TDCi ABS costs Rs.8.43 lac, has 1399 CC engine that delivers 68ps of power @ 4000rpm & 160nm of torque @ 2000rpm, and gives mileage of 18/19 in city & 22/24 on highway.
  2. Verna VGT CRDi SX ABS costs Rs.8.68 lac, has 1493 CC engine that delivers 110ps of power @ 4000rpm & 235nm of torque @ 1900rpm, and gives mileage of 16/17 in city & 20/21 on highway.

CC/Power/Touque of Verna is more than Fiesta - more powerful & better pick-up.  Fiesta, is however, more fuel efficient.  Both are more or less equally spacious & comfortable - Verna a little more.  Overall interiors & features of Fiesta is better. However, main features are identical (AC/PW/PS/ABS/CDP) – Fiesta comes with additional feature of Immobilizer. Interiors too are equally good/decent.

Ive no idea when comparing Fiesta to Verna.Fiesta is quite good. With certainty i can say SX4 is worst either as a quality aspect or dealer behavior with customers among the flock.

SX4 market has basically suffered on account of Dzire, I suppose.
