Hi guys.... am too confused over this issue...
I had a budget of 7 lacs and i opted to buy swift ZDi which was supposed to cost me 7.10 lacs (on road+ registered) in chandigarh.
Now, i have changed my mind to extend my pocket a bit more and i can shell 8.5 lacs.

Only thing is i can buy scorpio vx in this amount, bt i am too confused to let go sle from my hand for just 1.25 lacs.
sle is offering ABS-EBD along wid few other gizmoz...... but my question is,,,,,,,,
will it be worth soaring the loan amount by 1.25 lacs for side cladings, ABS EBD, de-fogger, EORVM's, etc etc..........
does a scorpio looks "not scorpio" without side cladings????? (as described by the sales guy wid MndM)

PLEASE HELP.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Varun,

The final choice will have to be made by you. you should take TD of both the cars & take your family members & ask them their opinion about the looks of the car .

I will say that if you can manage to spend more, go for sle. you will also recover most of the amount at the time of resale.

Good luck

Welcome to carwale Varun.

If you ask me my (personal) opinion is somewhat in accordance to what the Sales guy is saying in terms of looks. Without the side cladding the Scorpio does not look that great. I have seen plenty of them as taxis and a few personal vehicles without cladding and I have not liked it but this again can vary from person to person. So I leave that to you. . Incase you plan to go for the cladding check with the sales guy if you can get the cladding with the VX variant. SOmetimes there might be an option with some additional expense.

Coming to the safety aspect. If you are in a position to stretch and get the safety feature of ABS then I would suggest you opt for it. These are features which you cannot get fitted in later. So think about it if you want these safety features and then take a decision

The lower model you are talking is VX or LX?? I think its LX..

I day dream of buying any car in the market and drool over the models and colors which would be best suited for me.. and believe me whenever i think about the scorpio the same lx and sle thing bugs me.

To be honest the price difference of 1.2 lacs is not justified just for the ABS and few cosmetic upgrades. Ideally the sle should have been priced only 50-60 at premium.

You have already stretched your budget. If you can stretch more, go for the SLE. I prefer only white in SLE since the claddings are white too. I hate the exterior dual tone shades of other colors.

If you cant stretch your budget, stick to LX in black. The black bumpers/door handles gel well with the black body color and dont look too odd. In black.."something missing" effect regarding the cladding is very less. If i were you, i would have got a LX in black with designer alloys & good rubber, a pair of hella rallye in the front and a racy ICE setup.. to complete the menu of super cult black scorpio.

Sales people always try to up-sell and by no means you should spend your hard earned money just for the Original scorpio looks as per the salesman.. The scorpio without the cladding is not a scorpio is all non-sense

@GIRIRATAN :
Thanks for the advice..............   yeah the model is Lx and i am really not in a condition to stretch for another 1.25 lakhs.....   BLACK option seems more good but then, its a visibility issue and more over black color looses shine very soon (just heard bout this)
i can go for body colored bumpers as paint job will cost me another 8 or MAX 10 k.

what say for "silver" ????  Undecided

gggrrrrrrr......   NOW I HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE TO BITE MY NAILS UPON.........
aahhhhh.... somebody help me..... black or silver ????????????   Cry
am thankfull as i hav "NOW" made up my mind for LX model !!!

Infact i see more vlx's than sle's... if you cant stretch your budget.. stop thinking about the sle/resale etc.. the more you think the more you get confused.

Black dosent loose shine very soon but the swirl marks are more visible on black and makes it appear dull. It will require a lot of care. Frequent washes with clean cloth and careful wiping with monthly waxing.. sounds tough?? go for the silver..

I woould say silver because it stays cooler than black ones in summers. Also you dont need to clean it everyday which is a big relief IMO. Between the vlx is more expensive than the slx

Varun,

I wanted to say regarding the "resale" was that if you are spending 1.2 lakhs extra for the "sle" model, you will recover around 80 - 100 K at the time of resale, so your net extra spending would be around 25 - 30K (in comparison to the lx model). I think many will disagree with my logic.

Also, I believe that when you are out to buy a car, you should 1st determine the MAX budget , otherwise if you will find good options evertime you add some 40-50K to your budget & you will be confused.

But since you have clearly mentioned you are not in a position to spend that 1.2 lakhs extra, so stick with vx model only. Although black looks robust on Scoprio, it difficult to maintain in a long run, so my vote goes to "Silver"

Good luck
