earlier my mind was set on swift vdi  or swift desire but now people are sugesting that in the new model its engine is totaly changed.

my preferences are

1)value for money car

In small diesel cars you can also look at Ford figo, Chev Beat and Maruti Ritz. All are proven cars in this segment

Welcome to carwale Ashish

The options you can look at in your budget are the i20, swift, beat, punto, polo, fabia, liva, vista, ritz and figo to name a few

In terms of value for money I think The punto 2012 is a VFM at the moment considering what it offers. The Dynamic variant has almost everything and is almost (maybe slightly higher) the price of a swift VDi. Servicing and maintenance is also cheap. Vista is another VFM and has one of the best cabin spaces. However TATA after sales service can be a concern. So check with TATA owners in your city for feedback on TATA service and then decide. Since you go for long tours I assume you will have considerable luggage as well and so rule out the swift as the boot space in these cars is not good. Figo is a good on space but the ground clearance can be an issue. It has the same engine as the fiesta diesel and drives well. Looks again are a concern for some buyers. i20 is a good car in terms of space and performance but the car is not VFM and also the spares are expensive in comparison to swift and the likes. Fabia ia very expensive to maintain and I personally dont think its VFM. So rule that out as well. Liva is one of the best cars available if you are fine with the built quality and the console being in the center. Also the maintenance cost is not yet clear. Ritz is the swift in a different design but with better boot space and head room. Comes with the backup of Maruti service which is the best in the country and also spares are cheap. If you are fine with the design then you might want to take it into consideration. Polo has a 3 cylinder engine which according to many is noisy and not refined as a 4 cylinder engine. However the built quality is next to none. The only problem can be slightly expensive maintenance and also the center tunnel in the rear seat which makes it uncomfortable for 3 people in the rear. On the whole I would suggest you take a test drive of these cars and then take a call

Will the Dzire come in your budget of 7 lacs? Even if it does you should consider if you would need that extra boot space? If not then go ahead with a hatchback. My suggestion is the punto followed by the swift. The swift boot space is very less.

You should consider one out of Swift and Dzire not both since both are categorically different. If you carry luggage on a regular basis then Dzire makes sense other wise no point in considering it.Swift and Punto can be comapred.I would any day pick Fiat Punto between the two just because of its awesome Ride and Handling,Looks and millions of features it provides.

Finally A.S.S.Just make a check about TATA Fiat A.S.S in your area with other users.

I read the informations.

I have selected Toyoto etios Liva-GDSp with airbag and Abs

Can anyone comment about this in detail.

Most of them saying interior is not that good. ok. But is there any compromise in clutch gear, engine etc when compare with other high end toyoto models?

There is no problem with the engine or clutch or any mechanicals of the Liva. If you are fine with the interiors and the centered console go for it without any confusions. Between have you test driven the car? If not then better do it once
