I am planning to buy a Hatchback car and this will be my first car as well. After lots of analysis, I have decided to go for Ritz Vxi or Swift Vxi, Both i took test drive and felt both comfortable. Ritz has its own features like 60:40 split, tall boy design, and more boot space ,etc. But swift has lots of new features and interior looks good compare than ritz , however i have to spend Rs. 70000/ additionally to buy swift, My question here is , is it really 70000 worth to Buy new swift vxi rather buy a Ritz vxi.

Experts Pls help me to come for conclusion

Welcome to carwale Vijayan.

The new swift has got new interiors and VVT enabled engine which is not the case with the ritz. So engine is slightly better than the ritz if you ask me. But on the whole I think ritz is a better option if you are fine with the design and the interiors. The reason is that its cheaper, has lesser waiting and the 70k you save can be used to get good accessories for the car but this is at the compromise of some features. So you may want to analyse that and then take a call

An accident is generally the result of a screw loose in the nut behind the steering wheel

THOUGH IM NOT AN EXPERT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY U SOMETHING.. IF U REALLY USE BOOT SPACE TOO MUCH THEN U CAN GO FOR RITZ.. FOR COMFORT BOTH R REALLY GOOD.. SWIFT IS NEW AND IS BETTER IN ALL.. I HAV DRIVEN NEW SWIFT PETROL AND IT WAS TOO GOOD.. SWIFT'S PERFORMANCE IS BETTER THAN RITZ.. TO MY KNOWLEDGE BOTH ARE GOOD AND HAVE SAME ENGINES.. WHY NOT THINK OF RITZ ZXI?? ULL GET ALL FEATURES LIKE ALLOY WHEELS, BIGGER TYRES, ACC, MP3 PLAYER, IMP ABS+EBD AND AIRBAGS WHICH ARE PREFERED MOST THESE DAYS..

Thanks guys, your points will definitely add value to my decision.

@ Chandan, For your information, Ritz ZXI does not have Automatic Climate Control...

@Chandan - As Sridhar mentioned, only new Swift has VVT engine. Ritz uses the older K-series engine for the petrol variant. So, the engines are not the same for new Swift and Ritz. Old Swift and Ritz share the same engine.

Anyway, we dont really know how better VVT is compared to the earlier K-series. When Hyundai came out with VTVT engine in the new i10 (Kappa 2), they announced as if mileage is going to improve dramatically, but nothing much happened.

It may not be worth spending 70K extra for VVT and some small features. IMO, Ritz is somewhat reasonably priced, but Swift (especially the new one) is a bit overpriced.

I agree with Tomy. New Swift is overpriced. so the the answer is very simple.

If you have the budget, go with Swift or look at Ritz ZXI. Its a good option too.

I dont think Swift`s VVT will make much difference in FE in city driving.

thank you VIJAYAN n TOMY for correcting me. i thought ritz zxi has acc.. but im sure its has all other features i mentioned above..

ya VTVT in swift is far more refined n powerful slightly.. IMO both engines r almost identical.. but swift is more powerful than ritz.. but if u are tight on budget go for ritz.. as i suggested u can go for zxi.. if u really can spend money u can go for swift.. im happy that u have chosen betn 2 good cars itself.. anyone u pick ull be happy with it..

today i booked Ritz VDI white here in RNS motors bangalore.. though i loved swift its priced more n waiting period is big let down.. although i hav to wait for 1 n half months for ritz which is far better compared to 7 months for swift..

yep, it looks pretty cool , but white alloys will be a lil difficult to maintain.
