Psv,

Though I do not own this car, having tested it thoroughly I can say that she scores very high on the looks front. The performance - I am not talking about outright acceleration tests, I am talking about normal driving and how easy is it to live with - is not all too bad, though the engine needs to be kept on the boil to extract the best from it. Do not expect an astonishing mileage from the car. It will be close to 10-11kmpl. The Elantra is more bang for your buck, but it is also not as futuristic and appealing as the Honda. You will fall in love with the interior but the ride quality will be left much to be desired of. Honda also enjoys snob value.

Dear ashish,

Thanx a lot for a prompt reply, i decided for civic view modern looks ,interiors very pleasing (me taking 1.8 V MT),gives a nice feel over all ,driver centric(i intend to drive myself)and people do say that with 1.8 engine 10-11 km mileage is good enough.as for VFM part ,me being a defence officer buying through canteen and getting it almost 2 lakhs cheaper OTR and ofcourse it is once a life time buy for me.any worrysome probs if sum one has come across?as regards color - is misty violet good/evergreen or should i go for sliver or black. hav to decide among these colors.

Psv,

Yes the Civic is a driver's car and surely the 10-11kmpl is certainly not bad from the 1800cc delightful motor. As for the colours, it is a personal decision and is all upto you to deicide. As for gettin it 2lakh cheaper, it is a bargain that I would love to have!

Go for it is what I say!

One thing should concern you though.. Low ride height. The under-body scrapes at times when going over speed bumps etc.

dear ashish

thanx for being so prompt again.yup i did come to know of low GC,but wat to do, i hav fallen in love ,may be i will hav to be careful over bumps etc.But tell me is it really bad as i compared GC with other cars like skoda has 135 mm,civic 170 mm,honda city 165 mm.but yes buthis kinda of long wheelbase ,it does scrape once a while.

yeah the civic has a low ground clearance it does tend to scrap its underbelly , otherwise it the best in its segment go fr the paddle shift auto the experience of shifting gears is fantastic.

p.s--- and if its ur 1st automatic car..make sure u practise a little bit.... in the RING ROAD Honda showroom(New Delhi) ,they stopped giving test drives of that car because they got sick of ppl who took a testdrive and accidently pressed the Brakes (thinkin it was a clutch) while changing the paddleshift gear. ,this lead to a complete stop of the car, more than once, the car/bus behind, hit the CIVIC... the Bus accident was the worst !!!...poor CIVIC.....
