Hi

I want to buy a rear spoiler for my Getz Prime. I have asked for the price in showroom and he says its around Rs. 8000, when enquired with a private seller he said that it is Rs. 2500.

Can any one suggest me as to from whom should I buy it? Generally speaking, is the quality of the spoiler sold by car decors good enough?

Regards

Srikanth.

asking 8000 for a spoiler ?Probably a miscommunication or may be thats something very big and special, did you see it ?

Spoiler should cost you less than 3000/- this is the price range of UVA Spoiler from the dealer. Cross check the price with other Getz dealer.

Cheers

Azad

Thanks for the reply Azad. I didn't see that spoiler though, but that was the rate told by the dealer. May be I should check with some other dealer. Do you think I can buy from private seller? I mean,do I have to compromise on the quality or would it be more or less of the same quality?

Regards
Srikanth.

In Mumbai they are selling for 8500/- I am surprised, Its a new info for me as well!!

I am not sure what could be the difference in dealer's spoiler and private sellers.

You should see the both before taking any decisions. Make sure fitting does not cause any damage to the car while fitting from private sellers. Probably when fitted by the dealer, spoiler looks natural part of the vehicle.

Cheers

Azad

The dealer might be including the cost of painting it + VAT, but even then also its too expensive. There is no harm in getting it fitted from outside in case it doesn't have the in-built Light which has to be connected with wires to the battery, otherwise warranty will be void.

Thanks Anurag. I dont think the dealer was talking about a repaint, it probably was a ready to use spoiler. Anyways, as you mentioned - I actually needed a spoiler without the brake lamp in it so that the warranty is not void even if we get it fixed from a private seller, but unfortunately it doesnt come without the in-built light. So, I plan to get it fixed anyway but will not connect the wiring until the warranty is past - do you think is it safe to adopt this approach?

Regards

Srikanth.

My dear friends,

The spoiler price must be right according to the dealers because at the dealer the price is going to be high because of the spoiler material and way they coat it with paint. Also the quality of paint is good compared to the market's prepainted or postpainted spoilers. Recently I also got my Santro XL spoiler priced at Rs. 6500 (But I bargained with the dealer before purchase of my car that I will pay only 50% price and the rest 50% he will have to bear Else I will go for a Maruti OR GM car and Overall I got a Cash discount of Rs. 25,000 (On road price Rs. 395091+6500 spoiler = 401591 Less - cash discount of Rs. 21,000 = Rs.380591 Less- Complementary accessories of Rs. 1400 = Rs. 379191 Less - Rs. 3500 Spoiler bargain = 375691. Thus if you are on the verge of purchasing a new car visit more than one dealer and let them fight and try to get maximum benefit of their fight. But if you have already purchased the vehicle then you have to pay high if you want good quality product from the dealer.

Neeraj.

well..at Hyundai....things r too expensive...... Even for the Santro ...headlights,wiper blades etc are abt 3 times as costly as Maruti spare parts. But 8k for a spoiler is by all means too expensive....
