aaaaaaaaahaaa, just saw that vanishing text thread posted by anurag.

thats really sad. I seriuosly request carwale to please provide word counter.

Counting it manually is also not the solution because it will give you wrong count, system counts the white spaces, enter, blank line, etc. etc.

Cheers

Azad

Ok….I left at the filling station…… it is the the only one on the Manali-leh road…. Its written over there that next filling station 365kms ahead. Keylong is 8kms from here where one can find the hotels to spend a night…. Half of the people had a booking at the hotel and half of us stayed in the log huts at tupchilling.. really very good place to live in…it was on the hill top which is exactly opposite to the filling station…. The view from top of that hill was wonderful…. We started telling each other some jokes..and at night we had a little celebration around the bon-fire and went to sleep…

Next morning we got up early, prepared our bikes and ofcourse ourselves and we left those log huts for one of the most dangerous rides on Manali-leh road….. to a place called “Sarchu.” Both groups had to gather up at a junction 5 kms ahead of keylong….. there we met and after the traffic was cleared… we continued…. Then after a few kms we came across the most dangerous water crossing…. I was really afraid to cross that along with so many others…. An SUV can pass from there but its so difficult for a bike… put my bike in first gear and according to a rule which our leader told us that “do not slow down or use any gear other than the first while passing through a water crossing” everyone did that and came out of it safe…. This part was dangerous because of the bad roads infact no road at all at some places, deeps valleys on one side and stones falling continuously from the mountain along the road… one small one fell on my friends helmet with a loud “tak” sound and he stopped wondering what happened…. I was behind him n saw that. I told him what happened and we moved ahead this time being more alert…

We moved ahead at a snail’s pace… bullets were behaving as an old kinetic Honda which needs servicing…. Reason: not enough oxygen to burn the fuel…. And no roads… altitude was increasing…. Snow was increasing though no snowfall occurred…thankfully… we were witnessing small patches of roads at some places… dirt at some and big stones most of the time…. I never put on gloves.they make me so uncomfortable… cant my hand were frozen….and red…  we were moving towards the Baralacha-La which is exactly at 16500ft, on the way there just only a few kms I saw something which just blowed my mind…. It was the Suraj –tal lake…water was crystal clear and snow all over the adjoining mountains… and was touching it….I was then convinced that this long tiring trip was worth taking and there is much more to nature’s beauty to please my eyes…. Moved on and reached the Baralacha… clicked some pictures and then started descending downwards….. then we reached a village on the road… saw some tents which locals put on there…..I had three cups of boiling tea. Took out a packet of cashew nuts and we all shared it and finished it to keep ourselves warm….. ate some dairymilks too….. then we were off for the last stretch of the day….. to sarchu…..we reached there and it was a relief… but just for sometime. We were again served tea when all reached the Sarchu camp along with chips….. then after that we went out on our bikes for a small outing…. After about half an hour we reached back…..

That pic I posted here was clicked there only.. in front of the camp located just alongside the main-road…

I entered my tent and fell on the bed….. and instantly got a severe headache…. Not only me but many others…..then I said to myself that what the hell I am doing here…. Away from my home…. My cosy bed….. I decided nev<

I decided never to come back….. Then I fell asleep.. someone came and said dinner was ready. It was dark outside… took the flashlight and went towards the bigger tent to have dinner along with my friends.. not many were there…. Everyone was having some kind of problem related to altitude sickness…. No one wanted to eat….. a friend of mine from Amritsar was making fun of all and was imitating everyone…. How all were feeling….. all were in so much pain that couldn’t even laugh properly…. That made us breathless in that rarified atmosphere…… we went back to bed to sleep…. Throughout the trip the arrangement was triple sharing basis. But tents were enough so only two of us stayed together….. me and that friend of mine….. then something funny happened ………

I woke up at 2:30 (night)hearing some strange sounds…. It was him screaming in pain….. he was kicking me to wake me up… I said .ok ok…. Stop now and tell me what happened…. He said his brain is going to come out…. He was havig severe headache… he asked me to call the doctor immediately.. I had doctor’s cell phone no….. I picked up my mobile and dialed his no…… my friend screamed much louder saying that “ yahan peene ke liye paani nahi hai phone kahan se chale ga” Then I realized my stupidity.

Only option left with me was to go to the doc and call him…. I took the torch and opened the zipper of the tent…. It was totally dark and –6 degrees outside…. Reality: I was really afraid to go out to call the doctor..but somehow I managed….. Then a bigger problem…. I didn’t knew in which tent the doctor was sleeping…. It was just darkness…..i was praying that the light don’t turn off….. I started calling “doctor doctor….” Like stupids putside every tent… I was very careful not to enter the girls tent…. That was the only one which whose location I knew….. after sometime doctor came<

To be continued........ haha. Azad next time go ahead of Rohtang..real journey starts from there.........

That bike in my pic is a royal enfield modified into a dirt bike..... unfortunately it is not mine, i have a bullet electra.... It belongs to Nitin Yadav..from Baroda, Gujrat.. Ashish must be be knowing him... a 5 page article in OVERDRIVE covered this man and his wonderful machines a few months ago.......
