M.ANTONY I have conducted a thorough study of the features & performance of all the newly launched cars of the C-Segment.During the Ninth Auto Expo in Delhi, Jan.'08,I have made very minute observation of all the aspects of this fentastic machine.I found Linea is definitely an excllent car in respect of its perfofmance & looks. Its sturdy & mascular body structure surpasses its rivals in appearance & beauty. Its interior & dashboard are fentastic. When you sit on the driver's seat you will feel sitting in a cockpit surrounded by all luminous buttons & switchs. I am eagerly waiting for its launch, probably in Aug.'08.I am postponing my plan to buy a new car till LINEA'S arrival. Thanks to TATA for their Service Support to FIAT. It would have been much attractive if FIAT introduces inbuilt GPS & Side indicator lights on LINES' rearview mirrors.

It really is time that Fiat came out with a launch date for the Linea. However if they are going to sell thru Tata showrooms, Fiat have to remember that Tata's will push their own models first!! Service and spares will be crucial if Fiat are to regain any sort of position in the market.

How can a great company get the basics wrong in India?Ask Fiat.Fiat cars are always good.My childhood car was Padmini & so I have a soft corner for Fiat. But they don't know how to leverage things in India. Some advises from a marketing professional:1)Open your own showrooms.Thats the best way to promote your own cars.2)Focus on service as far as relatioship with Tata is concerned.3)Use database management, for god's sake. You have haapy & sad existing customers.Take care of both.Send mailers.Tell them to give you a last chance to service their querries & territory-wise,address their problems,concerns.4)What is the PR group doing in Fiat India.5)When you start Linea, price it a bit higher & make sure that the initial customers get great service. That will make sure that customer reviews are good & when the sales start picking up after 6months,slash the price.6)Please come upfront.Speak to the public & make sure that their questions are answered.Have a common forum with a website like rediff or indiatimes. Many things to do.All the best coz i want to buy a Linea. - Saurish Choudhury

I want to hear from fiat about the launch date and the price. I am in the process of closing a deal with Verna. I will postpone it if fiat launches it by july but september will be too late.

MATHEW ANTONY. The echo that resounded far & wide across India that FIAT is going to launch ultramodern cars like LINEA,has now seems to be receding as though they are not serious about entering Indian market. While Nissan & VW are going to establish their hold in India auto giants like GM,Honda,Hyundai,Ford,Toyota,Maruti etc. are introducing their modern & sophisticated machines in the market day after day with the motive of being one up in the automobile industery. Every one is aware,TATAS are great & FIATS are greater.FIAT going after TATA for getting the facilities of after-sales service to their (Fiat)cars will suffer the treatment of a step-father to his step-son,& eventually forcing the step-son to leave the'house'.The prospective buyers of fiat cars especially LINEA,are disappointed, rather discurraged after knowing the inability of FIAT to provide their own after-sales service facilities with the support of genuine spares supply to their own vehicles,& forcing the fiat customers to go to another auto manufacturer for getting their service. This will seriously & adversely affect the sale of Fiat cars in India. FIAT must establish their own after-sales service centers with spare parts outlets ,if they want to survive in India.Better start with major cities, atleast. Till FIAT get a strong foot-hold in India the unit price slab should be very competitive as most of the auto giants are all on a very strong wicket,& beating them is a herculean task.If FIAT are serious about establishing their presence in India they must come out with well planned bowling strategy to knock-down their rivals. FIAT are very great auto giants in the world, managed & maintained by world renowned planners, professionals & great enginers who are well equipped with advanced modern technology. But" to err is human".That single error makes the difference. fiat
