Fiat is planning to launch the Linea as early as May or June next year and has laid to rest all the speculations that surrounded the launch of Grande Punto preceding Linea. VW has already launched the Passat in India, but it is over 20 lakh. I think you were asking about the Jetta which will be fighting against the likes of SX4, City etc. VW is evaluating all its options and might showcase the car at the upcoming Auto Expo in Jan. The launch may happen in the first quarter of  '08.

 

Both Fiat and VW are from the same managment i.e. Luca De Monzemollo is the owner then y are they fighting themselves....Jetta vs linea..........

Elantra is coming with an upgraded new model to fight with civic and corolla.....so,linea is left with optra,city,sx4........

price would be around corolla and civic....the diesel version will be launched along with corolla diesel so no hope for elantra diesel and magnum in future.....

At one of the TATA showrooms in Bangalore they mentioned that the Grand Punto would come only by 3Q of 2008. I guess we would be getting the LINEA around the same time.

What a pity that the PUNTO is coming so late. The Swift Diesel would have had best share of the petrol / diesel hatchback the market by that time. The diesel especially with the FIAT engine!!

Kindly let us know when will it launch in INDIA, we are eagerly looking forward for this car. And I am about to purchase SX 4, but after seeing this model I am more tempted to get it ASAP.

Pls let us know the timelines of the lauch.

The midsize segment is bursting with new entrants , the LINEA  would be another addition . Its the saloon version of the GRANDE PUNTO , its corolla sized & stunning looking . Expect a 7-8 lakh price tag & hugely refined engines. Service won't be a problem with TATA around , when launched it will shake things up in the 7-8 lakh segment.   - somnath chatterjee
