With a size comparitive to that of optra, civic and octavia and with 6 airbags .. it seems to me the price tag would be around 10 to 12 lakhs .. keeping my fingers crossed.

Don't look at displacement (1.3L or 1247cc). Look at the power and torque it can generate. Linea will have 95bhp and 200Nm torque, which is more than Skoda Octavia. Last weeks TOI (thursday) mentioned that Alfa Romeo even comes with 1.3L JTD with 120bhp. Similarly, it has 1.4L T-Jet for 150bhp. Overall, we should not decide from the displacement until we take a test drive.

Fiat should learn to communicate with the Indian customer clearly on its intentions and the product. Great products, bad support!

Could anyone please let me know when exactly this car is going to be launched in INDIA. am eagerly waiting for the launch as verna and fiesta are the only diesel models in the mid sixe segement. LINEA might give some competition if it is launched with 1.5 diesel engine Any idea about other specs?? kindly post them...

Linea is head turner, hope Fiat will introduce it with a 1.9 Diesel engine, not the 1.3 multijet, I personally feel with 1.3 diesel it will be underpowered, unless some new gen technology is coming in.And Fiat should also price it properly to kill the competition.

If i am not wrong then the MJD engines which FIAT has in it's arsenal are the 1.3L & 1.6L. The 1.6 litre engine does duty over the Bravo. It could possibly be available for the Linea too shortly.

LINEA is available with the following engine options:

  • 1.4 litre FIRE
  • 1.4 litre 16-valve T-Jet Petrol (120bhp)
  • 1.3 litre MJD which is tuned to give 90bhp

Apparently the 1.3 litre engine comes with a VGT and provides performance for a 0-100 in 13.8secs and 100kms per 4.9 litres. Even if we consider 100km per 6 litres that comes to ~ 16kmpl!!

I am also waiting for Fiat Linea. Its Direct Competion with Hyundai Verna and Ford Fiesta. But Linea is More wider ,lenghty.good height,More laguage space(500).(2600)Wheel base.with 1.3 multijet diesel engine with VGT its also efficencent.90 bhp, Good power with 200 trq.may be it has same price.diesel model around 7.5 to 9 Lakh . I think for Fiat brand that good strategy for competitve price.
