FIAT LINEA - coming 2008

The midsize segment is bursting with new entrants , the LINEA  would be another addition . Its the saloon version of the GRANDE PUNTO , its corolla sized & stunning looking . Expect a 7-8 lakh price tag & hugely refined engines. Service won't be a problem with TATA around , when launched it will shake things up in the 7-8 lakh segment.   - somnath chatterjee

Would this car be fiat's  big hit ?  it looks like a mini maserati quatterporte to me  .

Any updates on when this would come out? Are there any news of the customizations that it would undergo for the Indian market?

It would come late next year as fiat will first launch the grande punto hatch here , there would no major modifications but dont expect all the goddies given in the foreign version.

CEO of Fiat Powertrain has mentioned June 2008 as launch date for Linea ahead of Grande Punto (quote: AutoCar India Nov 2007 interview).

Yes, Linea is likely to be launched ahead of Grande Punto, with compromise on goodies in both these cars as compared to the foreign version - it's always like that with all cars when launched in India.

I Have a Tedst Drive Bt It was overhyped.
I See New Articles That Fiat Linea & VW Passat in the range upto 800000
are going to b launched In India. So I Cancelled My plans.When these r going to b launched & What will be the price range.
Plz Tell What To Do. Buy City or Optra Magnum or wait for these Biggies.

Fiat is planning to launch the Linea as early as May or June next year and has laid to rest all the speculations that surrounded the launch of Grande Punto preceding Linea. VW has already launched the Passat in India, but it is over 20 lakh. I think you were asking about the Jetta which will be fighting against the likes of SX4, City etc. VW is evaluating all its options and might showcase the car at the upcoming Auto Expo in Jan. The launch may happen in the first quarter of  '08.
