New Skoda Fabia Diesel 1.2 TDI

Hello everybody,

Had a long break on this thread. No specific reasons, but had a trip to Goa.

I could get the mileage of about 18.4 kmpl in all with my Fab this time.. Lot of off road driving, in the countryside of Konkan- Rajapur, Deogad, Vengurla etc.

Have got the music system- Pioneer DEH 4390 fitted before that.. It cost Rs.6000 to me (+ Rs.600 for the couplers/ adapter etc.) still haven't purchased the rear speakers. Want to know about that also from our friends on this thread..

Can I get sub woofers fitted directly in stead of the speakers at the rear??

Nice to hear from you. So what was the max speed you went? rear speakers are a must as the people behind keep insisting on raising the volume. I am also on the lookout. By the way have you checked your tyre pressure in between? And what is the requirement as per spec?

I am more or less convinced to go for the Ambiente TDI as my running on an average is about 60km per day. The most imp. thing which is still holding me back is when ever i talk to family and friends about the fab.- i have always been adv. not to buy for the spares and After sales service apsect of Skoda. 

On a figurative terms has any one in this discussion panel found out how much has the cost of spares been slashed by for regular items????? or its just the cost of price that has been reduced because of truncations of accessories.

I achieved the max. speed of 165 kmph & to my surprise the car was moving quite smoothly & the steering was also stable without any rattling at that speed... no one of the occupants can even notice about the speed. You may follow the thread 'Top speed achieved...' in this forum only.. 

The detailed chart about the required tyre pressure is given on the inner side of the Fuel lid.

I usually get the tyres inflated up to 32 - 33 mark (& 35 for the spare wheel)... BTW, once when I asked the works man at the company workshop to check the tyre pressure, he deflated the pressure to 28 .. that ultimately caused substantial fall in the pick up/ speed & I had to get the tyres inflated again!  

Please find the photo of the Odo of my Fabia on page 6 of this thread only. You can notice the speed at 160 kmph here, as I just removed my foot from the accelerator when the photo was taken by my nephew...

hi guys, i've driven fabia TDi for a few months.....i love this vehicle......it has everything.initially for a few thousand kms thre is a lag for te turbo to kick in, say after 3000rpm...bt once it crosses 5k-6k, its a jet...an owesome vehicle... it has got

superb road presence

driveability

ultimate handling in highways n even corners well

compact vehicle

ABS is good

mileage- 21.6kmpl on highways, 16.8 in cities.

seat posture is in a commanding way...

i love this car among hatches.

only drawback is engine sound like a tractor...bt te cabin seals it completely. thn its outsiders who r goin to suffer...

BTW guys, hw is te 1.2 tdi...?

Hi Anil,

If you do plan to install the rear speakers its safest to get the wiring done through the dealer, however please double confirm that the warranty will not get affected or void.

@Dr.Vikas - you can surely fit a subwoofer however it will not serve as a replacement for rear speakers. My suggestion is that you go in for some really good round speakers that fit into the rear doors and avoid the sub woofer. The sub woofer will eat into your boot space.

thanks for the detailed reply. This does clarify lots of queries on cost of spare parts. Has any one in the forum taken the bumber to bumber insurance for the car- if yes which co. and what cost did you get it for?

That was great to hear you touched 165 ! I went upto 120 but was afraid to push for more. The vehicle was  edeging me to go for it !

And thanks for tyre pressure details. My dealer was also telling me 28 but the current tyre pressure is 32.

Very soon I am going to get the rear speakers fitted.. now obviously, some good round ones!!

If I am not wrong, your fabia is 1.4 TDI, the older version.. Man, the mileage you are getting is really beyond expectations..

In fact, I didn't purchase the old Fabia only b'cos of the concerns regarding its noisy engine- (tractor like sound) & low mileage!! I would have surely gone for it, if convinced about the mileage you are getting.. Sound won't mind as it's total silence inside once the glasses are up!! 

The New Fabia has got totally new engine i.e. 3 cylinder 1.2 CR (same as of VW- POLO's), power added by 6 bhp & noise is reduced noticeably.. not that much now...

Anyway Fabia is Fabulous!!
