Nissan Micra XV tested by CarWale

The XV we drove was quite well finished and is pretty good on quality. The XL and XE i saw was also fairly good. I don't think you'd really have an issue with the fit and finish.

Kartik, you have been very good with the replies.. IS the Micra good enough for occassional highway trips? How is the overtaking at speed? And the stability? What's the max speed you have driven the Micra upto and how was the stability?

@ kartik, i have been waiting to book micra, but only after its test drive, thought worried on nissan's after sales / service network and how monetary efficient it would be in maintenance, is a big question mark yet ! Also on price tags, u say it would be roughly 3.5-5 ex. but when i called Mumbai Ichiban showroom they claim between 4-5.30 ex-showroom ! Does XV model comes with Alloy wheels ? How about Mileage , any idea ? they claim 18 on highway ?

I am confused on which  Wagon R 1.0 / Micra / Swift / to buy  = My daily drive ranges from 90-120 kms which has 70kms of highway and rest city Usage ! only on weekdays ! which would be better option on all of these 3 Models ? or should i also consider Diesel Swift as option ? which will better handling on highways on these 3 options ! I am also attracted by New Wagon R heighted Looks !

I haven't driven the Micra but I can tell you that Wagon R is not the car for highway driving.

Almost all the cars will give very good mileage but I wud advise a diesel for u. Go for Swift diesel and if you don't like the lack of space in the Swift, go for Figo Diesel...excellent car and great value for money

Micra is pretty good for your highway trips. I drove it to about 135kph. It cruises effortlessly at 100 and 120. As in most cars, overtaking will need a quick downshift from fifth (so that you stay in the powerband) and the Micra is quite up to the task. Stability is pretty good.

I really hope they do rethink their pricing if this is what the dealer tells you. We haven't got a quote from Nissan on price but I think if they benchmarked themselves with the i10, Figo & Swift and want to get significant numbers, they need to price it well to make it truly VFM. Since you're in a metro you'll really have no issues with service. Nissan, being typically Japansese (and from their past around the world) will mean that you should get good economy and maintenance should be inexpensive. XV does not have alloys as standard. They should be on the accessories list. You could consider a Swift diesel or a Figo diesel if your drive is close to 120kms a day. The Swift and the Micra handle better than the Wagon R, for the simple fact that they aren't a 'tall' design.

What do you think the Pricing of the Micra should be?

I10 is around 4-5 lakhs

Swift is around 4-5.3 lakhs

Do you see any issue if it is priced similar to swift? I don't because it is much more spacious than Swift with lot of new Gizmos. Plz comment

The i10 1.2 starts at 4, however the Figo 1.2 Duratec starts at 3.6 and the Swift at 4.2 (all ex-showroom). So if Nissan really wants to make a dent (and they have 4 variants to play with) I would think it would be smart to start pricing at 3.5L. The Figo has had tremendous success post launch since it is not only a competitive package but is also well priced and makes for a serious VFM purchase. So I'm crossing my fingers on the price.

Agreed..I am more interested in the top end version..Figo4.5, Swift 5.3,I10 5, Ritz 5.

What u think should be the price of Micra XV, considering that it offers lot of Gizmos.

We're really hoping for a little over 5 (ex-showroom) for the XV which will make it so much VFM. Over to Nissan now. I guess 14 days to reality and crossing fingers!
