Okay, but my question is how does it help?  I've somehow never heard or read about this before.

I may be wrong but feel that it would not make any difference.

By the way, here's a liink showing installation & removal (there is no mention about it therein too).

Legal limits on the sunfilm light transperancies are well laid out and companies do give the transperancy % as a certificate to show for proof to the inquisitive policeman.

The only time i remember coming across strict enforcement of sunfilm laws across the board was after the assasination of out late PM Rajiv Gandhi.

sunfilms r a big mess......

.....its just a big pain !!!...

It's a mess/pain ONLY if we do not follow the rules laid down.  In that case, the fault lies within us.

Please go through the entire thread - all is discussed.

yes i've gone through the entire thread.....my point was ...d fault only does not lie within US.....sumtimes cuz of the police....sumtimes cuz of us...

d rules change every now n then.....

n i was just chit-chatting wid a traffic constabe close to my home.....n asked him abt the sun filmed glasses in cars.....

a car wid jet black mirrors crossed him....n i asked him.....y dint u catch him ?......

he sed "sir, koi fayda nahi....yeh bolega "mera limit mein black hai "..aur check karne ke liye hamare paas koi machine nahi hai ..... aur machine ho ya na ho ....iska challan ab according to new rules, sirf 100 Rs hai......hndred Rs ko toh yeh log waise bhi kuch nahi samajhte"....

The rules do not keep changing.  The fault of the Traffic Police is that they are corrupt (not all) & fail to implement the rules.

By the way, to check the transparency levels they are supposed to have AGTME (Automatic Glass Transmission Measurement Equipment) - I have no reference to provide (for the present).

Rules of chalans & mobiles are different from those of sunfilms.  In case of sunfilms, the rules haven't changed for long time, as I understand (no reference available with me).

Yes, the traffic police do not carry AGTME in normal circumstances. It is generally used when there is a special drive to detect / pin-down cars using sunfilms that are not permitted.

well the rules for sunfilms did change in 2007 too.... in between ..they had sed NO FILMS whatsover will be tolerated !!!........infact i remember this incident in which an old lady was also troubled...not because she was using ne films..bt she had tinted glasses......n she ofcourse do a thing abt it.......so they had to let her go after harassin her so much !... Pankaj...the 2nd paragraph is ONLY good on paper.....in every nook and corner the policemen r der to stop u n ticket u for sun-films... bt they dnt hav the AGTME.... any constable who's a lil comfortable in talkin to u wud confirm the same.... n p.s---my apologies to u as well as other ppl in this thread.....sorry i just realised, this thread is under "spares and Accessories"... so these posts r off the topic..... so for sunfilms being a boon or a curse, wud b discussed in another thread which i'll open soon...... as of now..... its back to more info abt sun-control films------- cheers !!!...
