The Purpose of using Suncontrol film is  to reduce the heat, privacy, for good leak, to avoide UV rays.

RTO rule says that Rule 100 (2) of the Central Motor Vehicle Rule (CMVR). As per the rule, the glass of the windscreen and rear window of every motor vehicle should have visual transmission of light not less than 70 per cent. In respect of side windows, it should not be less than 50 per cent.

BUT GARWARE POLYESTER LIMITED manufacturing  ICE COOL ELITE(70% Hear Reduction), NON FADING FILM (LITE)(50% HR),CLASSIC LITE (40%HR)AND INTERNATIONAL LITE (30% HR), these films are designed as per CMV Rule, with 99% UV rejection.

Sunfilm reduces penetration of sunlight / UV rays by 10% or so (depending upon the type/quality of sunfilm).  Therefore, with or without AC, the car will stay cooler.  So it indirectly enhances the AC effect (not perfomance).  Besides, it adds to privacy & looks of the car, as stated earlier by Shri Banwari.  However, there's RTO/Police restriction on use of some dark sunfilms, as it prevents inside view from outside (security point of view).  So it would be prudent to ensure that you go for not-so-dark sunfilms - you can go for the ones approved by RTO.  As such dark sunfilms don't look good.

I am looking for a sunfilm which can ensure coolness in the cabin. But I dont want a dark film, 70% visibility would be best, else 50%, not more darker than that.

What would be best heat reduction figure can I expect for a budget of 3.5-4K? Which film if not 3M?

Suppose I install a 3M SP50 for side and rear, which one would be good for front windshield (excluding the above budget) keeping in mind best visibility for night driving? How much heat reduction factor should I look here...

My car is a Santro Xing.

Front glass films are totally different.

Their light reduction will be quite lower compared to others. You hardly know if it stuck to your screen. (I am talking about RTO approved ones)

It also has better heat reduction(Good for highway drives in summer). Glare is also reduced to an extent(Good for night drives in highways).

By now you might have guessed one thing. It is costlier than the one you would use for the sides.

The prices start from 4500.

VFM: 3M/Llumar

Best: Vkool

Suppose I install a 3M SP50 for side and rear,

-legal limit is 70% visibility in front and rear and 50% on the sides.

-with a buget of 4K-look for higher end Llumar rather than low end Vkool films.

You can also try Garware products for VFM.

Garware ICECOOL SHIELD for windshield its price is Rs 2820 with 50% Heat Rejection and 70% VLT

ICECOOL ELITE at Rs 5800 with 62% Heat Rejection and 50/70% VLT for side and rear window of your car.

The best part is I got warranty card with other certificates, company siged letter for showing to the RTO in case of any problem for VLT, RTO approval sticker on glass and got 5 years warranty for scratches, color fading.

And if you planning to try these then PM me and I will give the sales manager details which will offer you discount on my reference and also tell you the authorised dealer in your city.

50% is damm sure, actually i was thinking this film reduces 10-20% heat so i called the engineer with heat meter and he shows me 50% redution easily in a little cloudy day.. and according to them on bright sunlight day 60-70% is normal.

Have you check their specification sheets.

Coz in normal budget range it is usually 30-40% reduction and in high end ones it goes to 60-70%.
