Hi carwale members,

I am desparately looking for advice regarding my new car purchase. In past one year, I had to postpone my car buying twice since I was travelling abroad for a long period.

I am planning to book a car before this month end. Cars I have shortlisted are Swift petrol and Figo petrol titaniun.

I have also considered Polo comfertline. I liked overall look and built quality of Polo but am disappointed with the waiting period which is 4 months. So I have removed that from my list.

Now regarding my usage and expectations:

1. This will be my first car.

2. I am 6 feet tall. Need driving confort. Do I need height adjustable driving seat ?

3. I need my car to accomodate 4 adults and a kid.

4. My driving will be around 500km per month mostly in city trafic of Pune and occasionaly a highway trip once in a alternate month.

5. I am expecting very low engine noise and vibrations.

6. My budget is 5 lacs, can be stretched to 6 lacs if I get a a quality product.

7. Very important, exterior looks and decent interiors.

Thanks.

Since you are 6 feet tall and require driving comfort, there two cars that fit the bill and those are the Figo and the Beat.

Beat has that new touch, as well as design features like the steering wheel mounted instrument cluster plus high-rise rear door handles set the car apart. Plus the on-road price of the top-end model is much lower than the competition for which you get the fresh new design which is miles ahead of the competition. Apart from this the car seems to designed for keeping tall people in mind and their driving comforts. take a look inside the car along with your family and you will be able to sit inside the driving seat without adjusting anything. Besides, when i  took the test drive of Beat lt option model, i experienced a mileage of 14-15 kmpl in urban traffic and 16kmpl on highway.

On the other hand, the new Figo comes with two engine options 70 Bhp DuraTec Petrol &  68 Bhp DuraTorq diesel engine.  The figo is a very spacious car fit for a family, plus the top end model comes with dual air bags for safety of the driver and the front passenger. Both the cars are capable machines, manufactured to provide the consumer, with the best levels of comfort and safety.

I would suggest you to take along with you, your family members and take a testdrive of both the cars. Buy the car which suites your driving style, a car in which you don't have to adjust yourself every time you sit in the car.

Hello two Raj,

Figo would be certainely VFM for you. It can give you much space to stretch your leg as compared to Swift.

Mileage wise new K-series engine of Swift will be having more mileage numbers than Figo. But the same can be compensated by the VFM package of Figo.

Interior & exterior of the car is completely personal opinion, might vary from car to car.

If you compare cost of  spares of Swift & Figo, both will be at same level. (this is because of the 85 % localization of the parts of Figo. And if you are living in city like Pune, i dont think servicing your car can be much of an issue.

To know more about the Figo , please read review by GTO of Team- BHP, Charles- Carwale.

By exterior dimensions Swift is approx. 100 mm taller than Figo.

Is it reflecting to driving comfort and legroom/headroom for a tall person like me?

@Raj,

100 mm difference is noticable from outside of the car. Many cars looks small in height , are having good space & cars with moderate height may not have that much space. Please go through the discussions in thread" http://ndtvauto.carwale.com/forums/ViewThread-16546.html". its about length , width & space in car. Comparision of Ritz & Figo will be definately helpfull to you.

Raj , myself being 5'-11" tall, i find Figo as comfy on space. I can easily strectch my legs & drive car. But before finalizing any model, do take test drive along with family.

hi Rajesh,

i would recommed you to go for Hyndai i 20 which will be readily available in showrooms.

also it meets all your criteria very well along with your main criteria of "Very important, exterior looks and decent interiors "

do take a TD before final booking

good luck !!
