Dear Experts,

I took my i10 to HASS day before yesterday and as it was its second service they just chaged its car oil and oil filter, as car was not run much just about 1500 kms they said other stuff is not required like whell alignment etc etc.

When I was driving my car yesterday I realised that a humming sounds keep coming up from car in frequent intervals but not always, I parked my car to a silent place and just kept it in a starting conditon and relaised even when car wasnt moving the sounds was coming but it is not permanent it comes and goes and sometimes come after long gaps too so one has to be patient, I took my car to HASS again and he ignore the problem saying it was fan thing and it has been fixed but the same noise keep appearing.

It could be some electrical problem while washing or soemthing gone wrong inside engine please advice i am so worried and nervous.

Thanks and Regards

Kabir Malhotra

Looks like the AC is ON permanently and the compressor is engaged periodically because of the temperature setting. Please check.

This should also result in the RPM shooting to 1100-1200 for those noisy intervals, and comiong down to 700-900 range when the engine is relatively quiet.

Let us know.

BTW, Welcome to the forums! hope you enjoy it here! Smile

No Sir I hardly use my AC of the car and RPM needle is also not fluctuating much when those noise appears. It is like hmm hmm sounds which come even when car is stationed and you out it on and and I am very sure it is nothing to do with fan or car heating up etc.

What is bothering me is can these HASS people play with your engine parts behind your back as they just asked me to leave car there in the morning and asked me to come pick it back at 4 pm in the evening, I gave them my car at 9 am.

Can they play with engine parts does it look something major, I am very attached to my car though I know its a small car but this is first new car I ever bought from my hard earned money.

Thanks and regards

KM

Thanks for your warm welcome and answering my worry promptly.  best regards

Did you open the bonnet and tried to locate area  from which this "humming" noise is heard ?   You seem to be very sure about the "Fan".  Yet, IMO Fan is switched on at irregular intervals depending on the Engine temp - This could be the sound you are hearing.

If this "Humming" is heard during initial period after starting car engine first in the morning and after few hours after parking - could be the cold belt "whining".

Never mind what others say, do whats right for that moment!

Hi All

Thanks for taking care to read and reply to my post. I went to HASS again and just coming back from there and when I told them that it cant be a fan problem as I kept a car on start for 15 minutes last evening and voice was coming from left side where battery is placed, they had a look and found that it is problem with front left headlight and its motor, then they tried to check different levels of lights and again voice started coming.

Now when I asked them how come it started coming just after the service they said it is electrical thing and can go wrong anytime, I kept quiet as I wanted to get my car fixed, thankfully it is not something to do with engine. Now this Service attendeant first accidentally said this should be covered under warranty but he will open the light and check then can only say, he asked me to wait and went down and came back and said that i might have to pay for it for which I was little uneasy, I asked him politely why should I bear and why is this not covered under warranty, on this he said ok I should call him back on tuesday as light set was not avialable right now and then he will also confirm if this would be part of warranty or not.

Can you all please advise if this is covered under warranty or not and if not how much I might end up paying for complete light kit.

thanks and regards

KM

Sir

I would humbly request experts or intelligent folks to take my queries also I want to know if other people who have i10, there is  headlight leveling device(small round moving switch) just to right of sterring where driver sit and near to his knee level, now when you (who own i10) move that switch to different levels like 0-1-2-3 does some sounds of motor comes in you car also, and when you dont does it still comes from intermittently and frequently?

Also after my service my car has started vibrating a lot before that when I use to just start and sit inside my car I even could never even figure it out myself if car was on or not and now it makes so much noise is it problem of tuuning?

thanks and regars

Kabir, there will be a slight sound when the headlight leveler switch is adjusted(this is the sound of the motor woring), but there should not be any sound from the same intermittently.

The part under consideration is covered under warranty-meet your SA at the HASS and tell him that you would be escalation the issue to the Regional Manager if the same is not rectified ASAP.

Uneven idel might because you are reading too much into the car, now that you have an unexpected problem soon after service. First thing to do would be refuel the car from a reputed petrol station and recheck the harsh idle issue.

Dear Sir

how can we know they have adjusted tuning finely, i feel if they tune adjust it little less then this car running on start mode will get smooth and not noisy what say? Can their be anyway to check if after servicing they have fine tuned the level of engine to best, how can a lay man like me know that, how to get this harsh idle issue fixed and checked by myself, can it be know looking at RPM meter.

Thanks for that whirring sound of motor and yes it is bothering me very much.

regards

KM

I understand from your other post that your car is new (under warranty) & recently underwent servicing.  If you are not satisfied with the servicing/tuning done, ask them to fine tune again.  The problem seems to be minor - re-tunning/setting will help.  Please do not do anything on your own.

Dear Sir

thanks for your reply, a day after when I drived my car along with this problem of headlight level motor malfunctioning I told them that my car was like missing when on slow pick up, then the harsh idiling wasnt there but now when they fine tuned it again harsh idiling started and that slow pick up missing stopped ..is it again tuning done too much?

Also if some one has i10 can they please confirm if when they move or change headlight levels do their headlight motors make whirring nosies and does this whirring noises also keep intemittently coming up even without using that rotatory switch.

regards

KM
