TheTata Safari is one of the first SUVs which were introduced in India long before the imported vehicles came to the country. The new Safari Dicor is fitted with the new generation 2.2 L Dicor (Direct injection common rail) engine that is operated by a 32-bit electronic control unit and incorporates state-of-the-art technology. While lowering emission and fuel consumption by a few notches, the new engine delivers an incredible peak power of 138 bhp. Price starts from Rs. 7.59 lakh.

The first one

- The Mercedes M Class :

                          The mercedes which gives you the pleasure of car and also a SUV when put on to rough terrain..

- The LAND ROVER / RANGE ROVER  (Now it's an INDIAN brand )

- The Beamers X3 & X5 & new baby X6.

- The chotu Q series Q5.

- The HUMMER.

This is what will happen if you depend on Yahoo for your automotive questions.

They've mentioned a whole lot of pseudo-SUVs in this list, including some 2WDs.

While at the same time forgetting the ultimate go-anywhere vehicle, the Toyota Landcruiser.

Yeah land rover & ranger rover is a India brand .Slow everything become opposite India will rule Britsh like it ruled india for over 200 years Ha ha ha

Well, the Mitsubishi Pajero is also missing.

And so is Hyundai Terracan, though not visible much on roads now.

Mitsubushi Montero? Not sure but will it qualify for being an SUV? I guess it should

Some of these don't even have 4WD

How can they miss the Mitsubishi Pajero or Montero ?? Its a Dakar winner and can chew most of the SUVs listed above for breakfast.

What about the Gypsy & Land Cruiser?? don't they consider them as SUVs ? Now we can even buy a Land rover Discovery or a Range Rover officially, why are they not in the list ??? I guess yahoo should do what it does the best and leave automobiles for us folks
