Introduction of permanent user names in the community

Can you brief us all when this feature of Permanent ID will be in use?

We will start to use the permanent user names on or before 25th December 2009. We could do that right away but people will keep changing their ids (once though) and it may create repeated confusion and inconvenience.

Here we go. The feature is live. I have chosen my user name as BLS.

By the way, if any of you find any error or something, just refresh the page and it should be fine.

I got my name itself as my user name, just as I wanted.

Yup, I just tried to post and the site prompted me to choose my username.

I got mine (Jey) as i wud liked it to be

Good! I got the username as Sujit.

I have changed mine to SolitaireKing

But I have still some silly doubts Ban.

1. Now do we need to use this as login id?

2. Currently my profile is displayed as "Anshu Jha". So once this is refreshed in december, my profile is shown as "SolitaireKing" rather than "Anshu Jha"?

Please bear with me if I have asked again same stupid question, but I was not able to clear my doubts

1. I think u still need to use ur email id for login.
2. Yes. It will be displayed as SolitaireKing after 25 Dec.

This is my understanding. Better to get it from horse mouth. BLS?

Jey is bang on, especially on point 1. On point 2, yes, we are going to use the user name for display purpose. However, I am yet to take opinion of everybody as whether we should also show real name along or not!

p.s. Please don't discuss point 2 in this thread, I will create a new one for that!
