Pricing will be around 20 lakhs from what I know.

Problem is VW is bringing the car with that outdated 2.0L petrol 115bhp unit that we saw in first generation Skoda Octavia's! No DSG either. The least they could have done was bring it with the 1.8L Turbo petrol 150bhp from the VRs - at least appear to be making an effort to give something nice to us!

20 Lac for a 2.0 225bhp engine is not worth it! Even a city is 120bhp with 1.5 engine. They should price is much lower than the 20l segment!

The high costs are due to the import duties and should go down with increased localization.

Hi,

Is VW good in India, because the reveiws on Jetta have never been positive, nothing much has been heard for Passat,

beetle if the pricing would be so odd, I do not think the same would have any better fate...

two words about the new beetle: TOO EXPENSIVE!

Definately not worth the price unless you have waay too much money and dont know what to do with it. Compare this: For the same price, i can get a fully loaded Skoda Laura L&K.. now you decide which one to buy..

The Beetle will be a life style car and would sell to the aficionados, just like the Fiat 500. Comparisons to mainstream cars cannot be made in case of the Beetle.

Its more of a brand building exercise rather than anything else.

agreed, but what do you think would be the percentage of people interested in the purchase,

If you VW have not been able to extensively reach the minds of people as far as their products are concerned, for that matter, our mindset is still with Suzukis and Hyundais because neither European nor the US car makers have ever taken the pains to penetrate Indian markets,

Let's hope Figo does not prove to be another US disaster in India.

Kapil VW is not looking to sell the beetle to make a profit, its just a brand building exercise.

Under estimating VW would be a bit out of sync. The Polo and Polo sedan might turn out to be hits.
