Where is the jazz my dear? This shows that while people are ready to spend a little more for a little more (i 1 20 ) but they are not prepared to pay a  lot more for a little more, also sx4  is likely to fare better since people were waiting for the upgradation

Edit Remark: Please do not type in UPPERCASE (since converted to Sentence case).

Well, I don't think Punto is dead. You got to understand that its competing in one of the most competitive segments in India - Hatchback where there are lots of other established players.

If I were the Fiat CEO, I would be more than happy with the numbers. I think their target with Linea and Punto release was 12,000 cars year end and they are going to get there.

Do you have access to these numbers on a regular basis?  It would be good to carry out the analysis of sales figures on a monthly basis, broken up by segment.

Keep those wheels turning!

Seems like people want Grande Punto to flop in our markets. I wonder why there is so much of hatred for Fiat because a lot of people want them to fail and get out of India. Competition is good my friend. If it wasn't for the Santro, we would still be paying Rs.5.5 lakhs for the old Zen AC/TG! and Rs.8 lakhs for a Esteem LX with black bumpers and no p/w and p/s.

Edit Remark: Please do NOT make personal remark (since redrafted).

I like punto but the problem is with Fiat. Why they are selling their product with TATA. It means anything they sell, they are happy. Competition is always good. I am happy to see Hyundai progress. In india the name maruti was synonym for cars. But I-10 is nic a nic with cheap WaganR and I-20 has outsold so called most populer RitZ. But Punto is not doing that because of Fiat strategy.

Ok.. can you compare 12,000 cars PER YEAR is good if on the other side Maruti selling about 85,000 units PER MONTH and Hyundai 51,000 units per month. Do you see any competition in that with regard to Fiat

Whenever a new product is launched in the market, we all become mad, oh its fabulous, its mindblowing, it unbeatable.. But the truth is, there is no challange for Maruti for the next 5 years. So many Puntos, Palios, Polos, Uvas, Jazzzzzzzz, Fabias have come and gone.

I never said Fiat is going to beat Maruti/Hyundai. That would be bordering on the ridiculous. There are certain market expectations and realities and Fiats reality is 12,000 cars, period. Thats what they are trying to achieve and my post said they will get there easily, according to me.

Another highlight of Oct month sales figure posted by Narendrasingh is sale of wagon R

No one liked shape of the car. We all are projecting that the car will be phased out soon and considered new Estilo and RitZ as its potential replacement – However wagaon R still sales like anything and is actually second best selling car in India after Alto.

On the contrary, Punto is most talked and recommended car but yet to convert in to sales figure. Of course there is separate thread going on to discuss this specific issue.

Honestly, the most talked about part is in forums like these. Ask the general public, they have no clue about a car called Punto. That's been my experience. Very difficult to change that, IMHO.

Cheers,

Naveen
