VW beatle will be seen from next month. Company has not disclosed what will be the price and what variants they will launch next month.
VW Beatle is likely to be available in 1.9 litre TDI diesel variant. Price would be around 20 Lacs.
Beetle is too heavily priced and being it a VW product it too would turn out to be a "delicate" product as well. From that one can only make out that it is targetting a niche user segment.
Let see its outcome in terms of performance and VFM !
A CBU like the Beetle wont offer VFM, as you suggest its a 'niche' product marketed for brand building.
Beetle .. I dont see any good future in India for that Car. And that too for 20 lacs, good for status symble, but at this cost, there are much much better options available.
I guess the sale will be about 30-40 units per month. Looking to the price tag, this even seem too big to me.
The price is high since it will be imported from brazil. A tax of 110% will be charged as import duty.

Beetle will be in the range of Rs.15 Lacs to 20 Lacs.
Beetle is available for booking from December 4th. Price tag = 20 Lacs. Quite a huge price difference considering Fiat-500.
