This might be just speculation.. or whatever you call it.. but it popped into my mind, hence sharing with you guys.

1.  If maruti decides to discontinue a car from its lot ? which one would be the first to get discontinued ? Will it be Wagon-R ???

2. What % of resale value, one can expect for a car like Wagon-R, which is been around since ages ?

gurus to comment.

Very interesting question

1. Yes, Because New Estilo is very new and Alto is still best seller.

2. Dont know the % of Resale value but till date Resale of Wagon-r is the best even Wagon-r's resale is better than the Estilo.

I understand WagonR was to be discontinued after launch of Estilo but Maruti had to withdraw it's plan due to its popularity - it's highest selling car even today in its segment/size.

No, I don't think so, as it is a very decent 8-seater priced below Rs.5 lac – total VFM. Even Omni - though not very decent - will continue for the same reasons (pricing/VFM).

These cars have a clientele - not so rich with big requirement (family size).

I think it will be Versa which will get discontinued because Maruti planning to launch a new Van. Resale value of WagonR is very good.

A Star is doing very well abroad and as it is produced only in India,it will never be stopped for some years. Also, the export orders for A Star are keeping its plant capacity almost full so Maruti is doing very little to push its sale in India so you feel as if it is a dud model. But the real story is different.Go for A Star if you do not have a large family.

Well, as per one of the news sometime back, Maruti is stopping sale of Maruti M800 and Omni van from 2010 in all the cities where BS 4 would be applicable. I have posted the link sometime back in one the threads but not able to recollect that link.

Also, by 2014, they are planning to phase out M800 and Omni van completely out of the market, as they have already few new cars in the same taste which they can rely on, like A-star, New Estilo, ever green Alto, Ritz, Swift. They are happing investing in these cars for new norms of BS 4 and above but not in old models of M800 and Omni.
