I have 90% decided to go for indica vista safire. I will very often be driving it onhills also. Can anyone share there experience of driving the vista safire on hills? Is it a lot underpowered or it is good in its pick up? please share your experiences.

Shravan, the engine is good but somewhat lacks the grunt for a big car as the vista. Moreover, as you are driving in hilly areas, why dont you consider a diesel? The torque will surely come of help in such conditions, usually where a petrol has to be revved to go up the incline. Also, gear changes are lesser which will aid in climbing and going through curves. Do not worry much as the car is not a bad idea either. If you get the gearing right, climbing a hill wont be a problem. Try to stay in lower gears as this will aid in making use of the powerband of the engine well.

i own Vista Saffire and did a trip to Malshej Ghat with total of 4 adults and a kid. My drive was coupled with dense fog, heavy rainfall throughout. Apart from minor lag, which vanishes after once it crosses 1500 rpm. I did not find any major issue in driving, the engine does not seem to be underpowered.

Please note that this was my first trip to hilly areas and did not find any problems, so for experienced drivers, i do not foresee any problem.

One thing i have realised that this car does not make us feel much difference in performance even when fully loaded with passengers.

I dont own a vista. But I drive Indica Xeta with 65 PS power. I had been to trip from Sawantwadi to Belgaom thru Amboli ghat with my parents. I did not find any problem while climbing, infact when I got little open straight stretch, I could drive in 4th gear, only to shift down when sharp turn or truck came.

Amboli ghat is in Konkan area in Sahyadri mountain. It takes 30 minutes to cross the 20 km ghat with car.

So Vista with 74 PS should not be problem at all. petrol is good choice if monthly running is less than 1500 km.

Driving is privilage, not a right.
