Its all Subjective,Truth lies deep under.

Lets admit that HONDA even though with a somewhat superior engine refinement, fails to woo genuine customers.

The fair bit of cars they manage to sell is only because of hyped up brand image that they always have concentrated on.

Needless to mention their overpriced vehicles which some of us buy only because  of the branding and not on quality basis.

The segment they played around with all these years has not noticed serious players in indian auto market.

The scope for improvement is more than what even HONDA projects.

Failing to understand it makes people think SUZUKI or Others like Fiat are just not good enough.

BUT times have changed and HONDA will find it very tough to "SURVIVE" in near future with major players having understood HONDA's Stretegy so far.

I dont see them as real competition, they just dont have enough metal to prove their worth.

Its easy to climb up,and sustain air about your products.

Only steady and slow is the key to success.

10 years down the line i see not just SUZUKI but others like it capturing the indian market owing to different demand here in india.

VFM+superior technology

No success story can be backed strongly as the one with both of the above points in consideration,Make money-Mint money but not at the cost of the customers.

I am sure Ashish you must have come to know by now why i am such a critic to HONDA.

I never saw them as a threat to any manufacturer, their game is different.

They dont have a foresight in my opinion and i am bound to reflect my feelings.

I am as human as we all are.Innocent

Hi,

I am sure I have taken inputs from everyone and based on that I had to book my vehicle but going against all wishes...I have gone ahead and booked 1.6LS Petrol Optra Magnum...I am sure I had recvd reviews about the resale value and why Ibooked the car are as below

1. Honda never got back to me

2. Maruti had too many customers that even after visting and logging a complaint on the website they do not have time to call back.

3. The GM person explained me all the benefits of his car and other cars and I clearly told the person that I am buying this vehicle not for the brand or the car but because I am floored by your service. He explained to me all the benefits of the vehicle, the good part about Sx4 also ( resale+VVT engine). I was floored by the genuinity of the person and as I do not care about the resale value as I would not be selling the vehicle for atleast 5-6 years. The car was smooth to drive, powerful engine and the best part he allowed me to drive the vehicle for a stretchof km which had no road basically mud and stones and I didnt feel a thingg.....not exatturating out here this is what I felt....

The final deal was closed at 8.4 with value add like fog lamps, reverse sensor, auto cop, filming, leather seat ( which will be available with the dealer at that particular time)  covers put as additional add ons in the LS model as it does not have the features.

Thanks

Hi all,

I own a SX4 for 2 yrs now and here are the positives & negatives :

1) The engine is powerfull and pleasure to drive on Highways but perhaps one may get fatigued during city drive as the steering and gears are bit heavy to handle.

2) The design of the A pillar obstructs the view especially while taking perpendicular right turns. Could cause problems if not carefull.

3) Loads of volume in terms of internal space..however sometimes its irritating when you want a cosy feeling

4) Music syatem not that grat.

5) Only go for the ZXi version as ABS is a must for such a huge an powerfull vehicle.

These are my findings after day to day run. I feel it is a better highway car than city ( parking space is also a problem in Cities). But one m,ay have different opinions. As far as New Honda City is concerned i have not driven one so cannot comment...but looks neat from outside as well as inside.

Right from Honda Unicorn to Honda Accord/CRV one thing is common in Honda - QUALITY. But then that comes at a premium. The spare parts are bound to be more costlier. So obviously maintaining a Honda Car might be costlier if something goes bad (which usually doesnt happen with Honda though).Honda engines have always stood like rock.

Maruti is where Maruti is today, due to its service network. Suzuki based engines have always done good in Maruti. So nowhere below Honda engines. Maintenance costs will be lower for SX4.

Resale will be better for City.

I personally feel City will be a class above SX4 too.

Overall City but then since theres a difference in initial ownership costs.

So I vote for SX4 for a not-to-rich-man who wants a luxury sedan with no much headaches.

City for the upper crest.

@Gaurav Malik: AND ABOUT YOU GOING FOR OPTRA - well its was obvious when honda and maruti dint revert, that their cars were selling in good numbers. You fell for Cheveloret (u fell for his words who somehow wanted to sell "a" 1.6 L Optra which otherwise wudnt sell that easily), the worst among the 1.6 L cars. Its heavy and underpowered with no mileage. You got it all wrong man. All the best anyways.

Hi,

I am not to sure if I have got it wrong as I have not yet got the car......nor have driven it on highways...u seem to be anti General Motors.....I have just got the car with an open mind as I did not follow the herd mentality there are other brands in the market to explore too and 3 or 4 bad experiences do not make the brand or the cars bad . Anyway not justifying my case I could have been wrong too in making my choice but its too early for me to comment whether it was right or wrong

@Gaurav Malik :

See Gaurav Im not against Cheverolet branch as such. Optra comfort levels and build quality is wonderful. In fact I was all set to buy a 2nd 2005 Model Optra 1.6 LS last month.

Only thing which I emphasize is that for the kind of car it is, the 1.6 L engine doesnt quite justify the price or performance expected. Though had it been the 1.8 Optra I would have been congratulating you  but unfortunately we dont have it in prod anymore. Had you taken the TCDi then I would ve said you took a real 'rocket'. Anyways congrats on the buy. Car will be solid.

In terms of petrol cars performance :-

Honda City > Ford Fiesta 1.6 S > SX4 > Optra 1.6 > Linea 1.4

Congratulations Gaurav!

Optra is a good car and as far as segment is concern its a class above other cars we are discussing here. Good space/comnfort & decent performance too. Performance too is subjective and car should not be sluggish in real conditions.

Road presence is good and just because its not much popular I feel its an added advantage. Resale value is not good but since you will use it for 5-6 years, No Worries!

All the very best for your car. Do post a User Review in Review section after some time for benefit of others.
