Tata Sierra is only a remodelled pickup truck, as it was launched close to Tata's failed truck 'Tatamobile'. Perhaps India was not ready for a pickup truck at that point of time.
The design has too many compromises because of the re-engineering required to turn the pickup truck into an off-roader, and two doors is just an example of one of those compromises.
Two doors are the same ones on the cabin of the original pick-up.
Tatas revisited the segment after their runaway success of TATA407, and now they have a healthy product in TATA207, a regular pickup truck.
Coming to the main topic of the thread, I think The Mahindra stable vehicles are quite good for the price, and Safari, though aged, is much cheaper than the other offerings from multinationals.
