Guys, I would like to upgrade the stock tyres(165/80 R14) of Ritz Vxi to 185/70 R14. Now i am really confused with Michelin XM1(not xm1+ as it too priced),Bridgestone turanza er60 and Appolo Acelere.Frown I know michelin xm1 is good competitor among these, but its over pricing pushing me to think twice. I heard  this Appolo Acelere is a good competitor for michelin as Appolo using michelin technology. Is it VFM to go for Appolo Acelere over michelin xm1?.I am totally biased hereFrown. Please help me here with average price for the tyres i mentioned above.

What should be the range of fitting charge for tyres and alloys?

@Binoy - From where did you change your tyres? Suggests me some good vendors in Trivandrum. Howmuch I can expect for my stock tyres and rims?

TIA

Well the XM1 had issues with the durability and thread life(which was reported to be quite poor) and hence the XM1+ were introduced.

Personally have been using the XM1+ on my dzire from day one and past 16K kms now, i can vouch for the durability of the same. Thread wear is minimal if at all and the noise reduction and ride comfort has been excellent.

At the time of my purchase the cost of the tyre was around 3.6K(each) and i received 1K for the old tyres(each)(165 section JK). Along with the 4 tyres i got a pair of Reebok sunglassess free(worth 2K), and Michelin is known for offering freebies.

Am not aware of the current prices, got the work done at New Bharath tyres (Chaka) installation was free.

The old wheels would fetch 250/- per wheel. If you are planning to exchange dont run the tyres too much.

Never was impressed with the Bridgestones/Apollo's on offer, the only other option that i felt like a good deal were Yokohama A drives(they are also hard to come by in TVM and aslo quite expensive).

Do note that New Bharath tyres are 'lions in wolfs clothing'-so be careful.

Thank You Binoy for your valuable suggestions. And i think you have got a better deal there, only 3.8/tyre!!!! This encourages me to go for XM1+ . Yeah i would like to deal with New bharath tyres, chakkai and on the very first day too(i will get my ritz with in 3-4 days). Are they having a better collection of alloys ?

And do you have any personal contacts with any of the store guys?

Thank You.

They dont have great many alloys-for the best alloy collects Cochin is a better option.

Nice info there on the michelin XM1.

I also have reserved my choice for michelin now, although i was very scepticle of the yokos and michelins.

Thanks for sharing Binoy.

Hi

185/70R14 would be the ideal upgrade for the Ritz

Alloys i would say go for Apollo or Aura as they have some good designs and are branded and reliable.

Michelins Xm1+ would be my choice as they are really good

Bino What about Bridgesone Turanza. How you rate Michelin XM1+ against Bridgestone Turanza ER60.

Both Bridgestone Turanza ER60 and Michelin XM1+ are comfort tyres.XM1+ are more silent, but Turanzas have much stronger side wall.If you drive on bad raods go for Turanzas and if on decent roads XM1+ is for you.
