Hi Frenz,

As a deal I am getting gear lock for INR 1000.00 with Ritz ZXi or should I stick with the normal cash discount.

When I went to one accessories dealer he told that steering lock is easily breakable but for gear lock thief will have to struggle for at least 2 hrs. Is it correct?

The gear lock would have higher grade and thicker steel. But then do note that even a gear lock is not thief proof, and for the determined thief the car can be stolen.(without disengaging the lock)

I really don't think having a gear lock will make a difference in a car fitted with Immobilizer and Car impact alarm. [Zxi] These things themselves are deterrent for people to steal these sophisticated cars.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

@gauri  do go for a gear lock . You won't remember the 1000 cash discount a year down the line but the gear lock would last u lifetime . It was one of the first things i asked as freebie when i bought my car .i have seen a few people write about how it was their gear lock which saved their car when the other security features were broken through by the thief .

I remember when i was at the accessory store in the MGF hyundai showroom, from where i bought my car , i was asking for the security system with immobilizer , a customer their told me that these things just give peace of mind but actual safety is provided by gear lock and started narrating his story when his car broke down and he had to park it road side n how it was his gear lock which saved him

This might be a bit over exaggeration but BOTTOMLINE DO DO go for gear lock if nothing else it would give you a second line of defence
