Hi just heard from the news channel that a third of such incidence,One of Delhi's Tata Nano car had caught fire yesterday...

There seems to  be combination switch error that caused the short circuit...

First incidence was from Ahemdabad,And second one from Lucknow...

What is more intriguing is that all the thre  vehicles are a dispatch from the Pantnagar Tata Plant...Company spokesperson admitted that there could be a connection with the dispatch lot...

Here are few pics that i manage to click from the news channel...

MODSo pardon me if pics like these are against the terms,Dont have any idea on this...Can you brief up on the pics issue...

Hi guys ,whats your take on this one?

Is safety put at stake for the sole reason to crate cheaper cars?

Or you feel these are isolated incidences?

I have never come across any such incidences atleast as soon as the car gets launched in the market?

Are we not getting what we deserve for the money we spend?

Such things do happen, here are two example from the other end of the price spectrum.

Ferrari

Lambo

In the Nano's case it would have been built to a cost and the niggling problems will surface in the initial years.

@Aby-did not understand the picture part clearly-if the pictures are taken by yourself there is no problem with posting the same without a reference.

Nanos on fire, Tatas may order audit

Thu, Oct 22 02:55 PM

New Delhi, Oct. 22 -- In what is surely the first blemish ever since wonder car Tata Nano started rolling on the roads, Tata Motors today said it may order a pre-emptive audit check of all 7,500 Nanos despatched so far, taking into account the three incidents of the car catching fire in the last one month. A Nano caught fire in Ahmedabad last month followed by two similar incidents in Lucknow and Delhi yesterday that put serious doubts on the safety aspect of the vehicle.

Delhi-based Sunil Kumar Panwanda claimed his daughter parked the car outside his home early afternoon on Tuesday but the car was on fire after three hours. Panwanda is livid with the company. "I had bought the car for my children and they are now terrified of driving it," he told TV channel CNBC TV18. "I want the company to refund my money and take back the vehicle."

Ahmedabad's Ravindra Bhagat had a similar experience and is now of the belief that a bigger car is better. "I bought the car because Ratan Tata drove and introduced it. I thought this small car will be convenient for daily use in the city. Now, I feel it is better to drive a big car. Even if I get a replacement, I will not accept it," he told the channel.

But the company played down the incidents saying there was no technical or design fault with the car but only short circuits. "There is no question of recalling any of the cars as there is no technical or design fault with the car. This is not a generic problem," he added.

I understand the point...

But its a myth that CNG vehicles are more dangerous...!

Petrol Engine car fires are disastrous and most of the times they are beyond control...

[Part of the reason being that CNG on diffusion[fast] becomes almost inert]

The main havoc being that All CNG cars are Petrol at heart,SO real menace is the Petrol rather than the CNG,besides CNG cylinders never burst, atleast i havent come accross any such incidence...

Pictures clicked by you (your original work) do not need any reference to be mentioned.  Rest - any source/mode - need to be mentioned.

In this case, the pictures have been clicked by you but those are not your original work - clicked (copied) from TV News channel.  So, you have rightly mentioned/clarified about it below the photos uploaded.
