A pole or rock and such things I am sure the sensor will detect, I am not sure if camera can really detect the pit or drainage considering narrow angle of view of camera ( they have angle of only 120~150 degree)

Any user who uses the camera can give his opinion , it will be useful.

The dealer installed RD parking sensor as complimentary when I purchased the SMT. Its honda approved and is working fine. But to get a clear picture and to be a more sci-fi I would suggest you to go for rear view camera with night viewability. You can use the lcd for any other purpose as well. Now there are displays that replaces the rear view mirror.

Autocop is a good brand. I had Autocop's car security system in my previous car.

I love my car. But I won't say it is the best in its class.

The camera wont give info about on obstacle position or distance to the obstacle.

Moreover as the same is on the rear bumper the chances of total loss are pretty high in our environment.

The camera won't be on the bumper. It would between the lights of back no. plates. The disadvantage of sensors is that, if some dust is out there it will tell the distance as 0 and also the minimum measurable/detectable distance for the sensors is just 30cm. Such a distance counts in some cases. Thats why I prefer 'better placed' rear view camera rather than sensors. And I think its more important to see whether there is space or not, rather than how much distance is left!

That doesn't mean that sensors are useless. It is really useful. But I would prefer a 'better positioned' rear view camera more.

During rain, or if there is water drops on sensors it won't work. I would strongly suggest to go for camera based parking system

I would like to know how the camera is fixed in between the lights of number plate. Mostly I have seen it fixed in bumber. When I asked the service person who installed the sensor system in my car about fixing camera, he told me about drilling the bumber. So I put off the idea.

During rain, or if there is water drops on sensors it won't work.

Luckily I did not face any problem with the sensor system for the last 1.5 years. But some of my friends had. He later told me that if the sensor system will not work during rain it is ok as his experience was horrible.

During last monsoon he was on a 50km trip with his friends. The rain was heavy. He had installed sensors on front and rear of his car. After some distance, the sound alarm of the sensor system begin to warn continuously and that too in high intensity. He had to drive about 15 km to find a petrol bunk with roof, where he removed the front sensors manually to stop the buzzer.

Experience of another friend is not related to this but a warning to all who have sensors in the car. During one routine service, he had some problem in the rear bumber, which he asked the service manager to rectify. When the car was returned it was fine. When he reached home he found that the sensors are not working. When he checked he found that the wiring of the sensors are broken during the service. The service personnel had forcefully detached the bumber with out disconnecting the sensors.

In ebay.com its available with display at around 7K. You can use the same display for playing videos as well. I wish anhc doesn't comes with a built in player! I would have installed an integrated mp3/mp4 player with rear view camera. GPS displays can also be used for rear view.

And in night, certain cams comes with light and IR imaging.

It will be worth paying extra. A combination of sensors and rear view camera will make you absolutely free of sratches that occur during reversing and parking.

And in case of false alarms, as happened to your friend, why didn't he switch of the sensors. In RD parking sensors, there is a switch at the back of display to switch off the sensors.
