this forum came as a surprise to me.the pricing,

is there so much of price difference when we buy things localy and not with the orginal car maker.

i had a problem with my safari GX model ,which comes inbuilt with the rear sensors.

the very 1st week of my purchase i noticed a small damaged portion on my inner mirror right in the middle portion of dispaly ,which was not a crack ,whare as there was no glitch in the sensor operation.all information displayed were absolutely all right.

i got it replaced (only the inner mirror) via warrenty claim.but the price quote was around 9.5 k.what the dealer had quoted in his bill.

dealer service manager had told me that the entire set (including the rear sensors)is to be replaced if warrenty is to be availed .i insisted not to disturb any factory set sensors since they are working perfectly fine and repalce only the damaged looking inner mirror.finaly he did as per my wishes.

here the price quote is way high 9.5k only for inner display.whare as in the forum i am getting the information that complete set is available at 2.5 to 3k.

also when we go to buy a vehicle they take an undertaking that if we bring about any modification or fit something which is not authorised from them, we cannot claim anything via warrenty?

also how to protect ourself from the misguidance that the dealer people gives sometimes that even the good parts need to be replaced when we are claiming under warrenty?

@Vikas : Yes, it is my 2 year old daughter honking my DZire.

@Siju : There is of course difference in prices between the dealer and outside shops. But haven't heard so much price difference as quoted to you. Can you ask the dealer which brand of sensor is used for Safari.

Also what the Honda dealer says in Chandigarh is that buy the car from us and don't buy the sensors since they cost 22K as an original accessory but from market @ 2.7K. he advised go from the market and also suggested a good vendor @ reasonable price and confirmed there will be no warranty lapse for the car.

I second. Not only you can prevent dealers cheating you but also you can help others by giving advice from the information gained from the discussions here.

Hi,

I'm waiting for my Spark. Yeah, rear parking sensors and camera only assist us while reversing. Its the driver's eyes that has to be relied upon ultimately.

I have decided to go for Rear Camera from Xenos. It comes with a night-vision camera drilled into the rear bumper, and a 3.5" TFT monitor on the dashboard. Another advantage of this monitor is that you can connect your dvd/vcd compatible player to it. When you put the Reverse Gear, it automaically switches to rear-view camera.

And you can go to xenos.co.in and browse for all their products, including the MRP. You will have a better idea then. Next, find the contact details of he local Xenos distributor of your area, again through this site. Try to contact the Service Center of your area rather than the Sales Centers.

Doing this, I have finalised the Rev. Cam price at Rs. 5200+400(MRP-Rs.5700). The Rev. Cam suggested by the dealer was Rs. 14000(nippon). Now you know how much you can save.

In my opinion, Xenos seems to be good. I've heard that their Security Systems are one of the best. Going by that, I'm gonna try their other products too. And just take a look at their audio System(DVU 160). I guess its a COOL DEAL!!

Regarding the Rev. Cam's quality, I'll post more info once I use it..!

Rear View Camera and display - Can anybody tell me that the display shows a 2-dimensional picture of rear view then how effectively the distance of that objects from bumper be gauged?

Instead the sensors find out the actual distance of object from bumper , isn't then the sensors are actually more logically effective than camera-display ?

Yeah that may be true. But one might miss a pole or a small stump, a small rock on the ground, or even a pit or a drainage when you use a sensor.

Avoid quoting directly preceding posts-MODS
