Just for information, I own a Honda Accord 2.4( new one) and an Sx4 ZXi and a Swift Zxi.

I am given cars from the office when I am visting sites.

Till now, the worst must be a Linea car i have driven in my life and seriously repent having driven that for an entire week ..

Forget about the Accord, or SX4 .. even my SWIFT is a million times better than a LINEA although its a whole segment lower ..

maybe people who have driven PALIO 1.2 may find Linea as the "best car" around Wink

Never driven Palio till date. Linea is the 1st Fiat I drove.  I've not stated that Linea is the "most Powerful" and "Fastest' Car.  It is a good car - with decent performance.

It seems there is battle against Linea.

Just went thru the thread, I did not find much logic in the argument about the car with any logistic support.

BTW I Own Palio 1.2 &  love the car & I have driven Linea & its an Amazing car whcih I plan to buy soon.

Please note:

It's so surprising... people have the sense to run office/department, handle colleagues/subordinates, run a family, teach various things to their children & shape their career, buy cars, wear good clothes, move around in society....  BUT no common sense as to how one should be interacting in public forums.  It's a shame.

Posts/discussions have been suitably edited/deleted to maintain decorum of the forums. Use of abusive language against the cars or members will not be tolerated.  Any such further attempt will be viewed seriously & the member/s concerned will be banned from the forums forever - please note.

Further discussion, if any, may please be continued.  The platform of disagreement, if any, should be academic & not personal. Be careful.

@ Victor:

What you are implying is that the " IN GEAR" timings of the Linea is not as bad as the full on acceleration.

May i point out the reason for this.

It is not beacuse the engine is torquey, its only beacuse the only way Fiat saw that the car would move about is with very very short gear ratios. Thats why you may find that its in gear timings are relatively acceptable.

Take this car above 120kmph and you will  see that it absolutely refuses to respond and literally STRUGGLES  to go any faster and thats also the direct proof of the fact that its got a meagre top speed of 151kmph.(Equal to a Zen Estilo)

All in all, the Linea is a pathetic drivers car and one should only buy one if he/she is chauffer driven.

I could very easily take it above 140 very often and the maximum I have touched was 185 for a brief duration.

There are sevral peope in this forum who have very comfortbaly taken it above 130 and the amount of confidence that it gives at high speeds is tremendous.

I have never found the car struggling to go above 120 - actually I have often found to my surprise that I have crossed 130 through overspeed beep that I set in MyCar function - without even realising how quickly it accelerates.

You must have heard of "SPEEDO ERROR" and that every vehicle shows  a significant error in the dials and that it INCREASES WITH SPEED.

With your arguement, my Accord touches 240kmph(Indicated speed on the speedo) ...

whereas my GPS shows a REALITIME SPEED of 209kmph ...

That's my point.

The statement below is not from me but from Automags like WhatCar & OverDrive.

The least speedo error was observed in Linea among all the cars - City, Fiesta, SX4, Verna .....

Not only in speed but also in mileage and KM error - Linea was the one with least error.

I had to drive a Linea or a week from my office car fleet and I know the car pretty well and I am very well conversed with its "capabilties" ...

Anyone who has driven "REAL CARS" would understand standards of motoring ..

I had an entire stretch of Nation highway roads ahead and the damn car is pathetic and sluggish and un responsive.

I did not find Linea "RESPONSIVE AND POWERFUL"

You have all the rights to post "your" feel and opinion. But the real feel and performance can be seen by anyone who wants to.

First of all, FIAt just owns FERRARI . THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH BULIDNG OR MAKING THEM.

The same way that VOLKSWAGEN just owns AUDI, LAMBO and BUGATTI .. and HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING ..

Thses are SIMPLY "TAKEOVERS' and they make NO CHANGES TO THE TECHNICAL MANAGEMENTS in these companies ...

I'd like to point out that the VW-Audi group only built the DSG gearbox for the Veyron, but it made its way down to the Octavia... Or that they made the transverse VR6 engine only for the Passat R36, but it also is under the Superb's hood.

Or that the Seat Ibiza, Skoda Fabia and VW Polo run the same kinds of engines with amazingly similar chassis design.

Hi Pankaj,

Good to see cleaning up done.

If you see I had already stated the objective of that debate - because the forum takes pride in QUALITATIVE details shared about automobiles & not heresay without any factual representation. Thats the reason that could not resist reverting to those every post.

However, Still those 2 thingies which prompted the debate are still very much there:

  1. Take this car above 120kmph and you will  see that it absolutely refuses to respond and literally STRUGGLES  to go any faster
  2. Speedo Error of 50 / 70 kmph

If the forum believes in both the above, let those posts (which did not have any factual data) remain but then all subsequent posts on debating these 2 points should also be restored by the same token. Else delete everything which the forum does not believe in & is without any facts & figures
