@ Sujit: Blue and Me is only the hype.

Apart from the look which is meant only for admiration, there is nothing else in the car.

I was very much disappointed when I did the TD last week.  1st and 2nd gear its too sluggish.  Poor interiors and very poor plastics parts which were broken from many places.

Nothing to admire.

You get blue tooth feature also in Cedia which is far better car.

Yes It is slow in first and 2nd gear. But delivers performance where needed - above 30 KMPH.  You will be surprised to see the ease with which you can overtake other cars as its stellar performance is in the normal usable midrange.

Let me repeat

In terms of performance,

- if we are looking for racing track performance then SX4 and City score better than Linea. (but in normal driving situations, you do not start from 0 with all other cars in the same line after flag-off)

- if you are looking for performance in the normal range then Linea scores far above SX4 and City.

Normally whether in City or highways, you are already above 30KMPh often and Linea gives performance where you need - in the mid range.

To talk in terms of data

 0 to 100 - Linea - 15 seconds, Optra - 10.9, City - 10.3, Civic - 9.6, Verna - 11.3, SX4-12.1

But

20 to 80 - Linea - 11.8, Optra - 12.8, City - 12.9, Civic - 12.3, Verna - 12.3, SX4 – 13.75

40 to 100 - Linea - 13.6, Optra - 14.9, City - 16.7, Civic - 16.4, Verna -  16.4, SX4 – 20.92

So, the feel that SX4 or City or Civic has better performance is due to the fact that they have much better figures on paper in terms of bhp, cc etc. But in reality the story is different.

Blue and me is/was one of the greatest and most talked about distinguished feature in the Linea. But now, it seems like many aren't able to get it working. Blue & Me refuses to recognise voice commands. It might be due be either accent or the phone model which is the culprit.

But then Blue & Me turned out to be more of hype only

Blue & Me voice recognition requires some getting used to.  But Blue & Me is not just voice commands alone. There are several other features that you can use in Blue & Me - which comes in very handy.

I have been using it and is pretty good.

Victor, I agree with you. The Linea is a brilliant and a complete VFM car. The diesel variant is highly efficient too. Atleast 15+kpl.

I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

@ Victor:

What you are implying is that the " IN GEAR" timings of the Linea is not as bad as the full on acceleration.

May i point out the reason for this.

It is not beacuse the engine is torquey, its only beacuse the only way Fiat saw that the car would move about is with very very short gear ratios. Thats why you may find that its in gear timings are relatively acceptable.

Take this car above 120kmph and you will  see that it absolutely refuses to respond and literally STRUGGLES  to go any faster and thats also the direct proof of the fact that its got a meagre top speed of 151kmph.(Equal to a Zen Estilo)

All in all, the Linea is a pathetic drivers car and one should only buy one if he/she is chauffer driven.

120kmph !!! How many people drive their cars above 120kmph regularly and for how long??? Come on Avik not all of us are race car drivers!

I feel that the gear ratio of fiat is very intelligently designed to give power maximum when it is most required.

very well said Ranjan.. totally agree with u.. with bumper to bumper traffic on peak hours and normal speed of max 80 on late night drives is what one would practically and realistically do..its only the occasional hit on the freeways or expressways that would allow you to go up a speed of 120-130kmph

Everytime I'm on Expressway/ Highway, I've driven Linea at 170 kmph EFFORTLESSLY. In fact, I'm not a rash driver & do not advocate any speed over 140 kmph. However, in Linea, one does not even know when she has reached 170 kmph, its soooo comfortable & so effortless. There are people who've driven Linea at 190 kmph.

This is a perfect car only if you are chauffer driven.

Quoting below from my Ownership Thread Laughing

----------------------------------------------------------

Almost 2 months after delivery

The car has grown on me. It seems she has suddenly waken up from a slumber & became silky smooth. May be crossing 1500 kms, may be the short-bursts I gave her to free her up or may be I got used to her with my driving style more aligned to Clutch-Geat-Accelerator combo/ config. But I must say that now she has surpassed Ford Ikon in Driving Plwasure, Ride Quality, Maneuvering. I'm now driving her like a toy, able to maneuver her brilliantly - here, there, left, right so on & so forth absolutely like a toy. This is the biggest pleasure for me as these qualities are very imp to me, relieves few of my worries, makes me so happy

All my earlier reservations about Power (or lack of it) has now gone out of the window. Somehow she became so silky that even the 2nd gear doesn't seem to let me feel any lack of power. And like Ford earlier, in B2B traffic, now she does not allow other cars to intrude & come in front of her lane from adjoining lane !!!
What is amazing is that in 5th Gear above 2000 RPM's, from a speed to 50 - 60 kmpl, if you press the accelerator, she just surges ahead like a jet & very smoothly. Brilliant, Brilliant.
Poise, Stability is top notch even when I throw her in corners.

The only "less power" I now feel is when I'm driving her in 5th gear & due to traffic the speed reduces (have not noted what reduced speed -may be around 40 - 50 kmph - have to check), it takes some time to recover the lost speed. This may be felt more on highways in overtaking, though again in Linea's defense, I'll have to wait for some time to check if its due to my driving style.

I had a driver earlier whom I let go when I purchased Linea as wanted to do run-in for initial 1500 kms myself. After enjoying the rides in Linea, am seriously reconsidering not to hire a driver now.

On that last line of last quote above, have still not re-hired that driver which I was forced to hire earlier because of change in my office location & resultant 2.5-3 hours drive back home in the evening in Mumbai B2B traffic. Still the 2.5-3 hours ride back home remains (till office location changes again) but riding Linea is just too good. Thats the effect of FIRE engine.Laughing

You must have heard of "SPEEDO ERROR" and that every vehicle shows  a significant error in the dials and that it INCREASES WITH SPEED.

With your arguement, my Accord touches 240kmph(Indicated speed on the speedo) ...

whereas my GPS shows a REALITIME SPEED of 209kmph ...

That's my point.

I had to drive a Linea or a week from my office car fleet and I know the car pretty well and I am very well conversed with its "capabilties" ...

Anyone who has driven "REAL CARS" would understand standards of motoring ..

I had an entire stretch of Nation highway roads ahead and the damn car is pathetic and sluggish and un responsive.

I did not find Linea "RESPONSIVE AND POWERFUL"
