In case the car's insurance is expired, can I take my car on the road without renewing the insurance ? What are the risks factors involved in it ?

Thanks

You can be fined for this and its risky in case your car is involved in accident. You will not get any claim and in case any third party is involved in accident then all the claims you will have to settle.

Always advisable to have a valid insurance cover and that too comprehensive

Thanks for your reply..

Pls elaborate a little on what you mean by 'comprehensive' insurance cover.

Also request you to suggest some insurance company name from where I can renew the insurance with comprehensive coverage. FYI.. I am based at Hyd'bad city

Comprehensive insurance cover means that it covers all eventualities related to your car.

You can go for Bajaj allianz, National Insurance Company, IFFCO-Tokyo etc.

But opt for cashless policy.

Here is a site where you can compare different policies.

You can live in your car, but you can't drive your house.

How about IFFCO-Tokyo ? I talked to IFFCO, they offer comprehensive and cashless policy.

Which one is better between Bajaj allianz and IFFCO-tokyo ?

Both are good.  Bajaj is more reputed while IFFCO, as I understand, is more accommodative.  Go for the one that offers you finer premium, terms & conditions.

Finally settled for IFFCO-Tokio. Premium paid Rs.6.5k (incl.taxes) for IDV Rs 255k (comprehensive & cashless policy). Did not get NCB as prev. ins. lapsed more than 90 days.

How is the deal ? could it be more cheaper in terms of premium amt ? Appreciate your valued comments/suggestions.

When asked the surveyor guy about claiming for plastic parts replacement, he said they pay 100% for plastic parts replacement also. But I doudt he is not informed correctly.. is it correct ?

As far as I understand, all companies cover plastic/rubber/nylon parts, tyres, battery & airbags to the extent of 50%, and fibre glass components 30%.  The premium, without NCB, sounds reasonable.
