Hello Friends,

Pl guide on hows the preformance of Saffire engine used in Tata vehicles. Which other car share this engine. Am looking for a Hatch. Budget upto 4.5 to 5 lacs.

My monthly usage will be 500 kms including highways. Should i go for Santro or Indica Vista / newly launched Manza. Does it make sense to own a Tata vehicle. Am a little agst Tata vehicles only for their looks and service issues. Though its could be a coincidence but i've have hardly seen an Indica which is not scratched / bumped from either of the sides.

Tata is using fiat engine.  Go for petrol variant only as per your usage.  TD drive manza and decide accordingly.

Thanks Praveen,

How does this Saffire engine perform?, what average can i expect in Vista petrol.

Do u recommend any other car like Punto / Santro / VW Polo (Am okay to wait for Polo if its around 5 lacs).

Santro has been relaunched last month with a little bit changes.

VW polo is being launched in Jan 2010 with a starting price tag of Rs.5 Lacs, if you can wait then wait for polo luanch.

with Saffire you will get around 12-14 mileage with AC on.  It same engine which fiat is using in Linea and punto.

First do the TD and then decide accordingly which one all the family members like and it fits all your requirements

Well Vikas, First of all, Indicas are mostly used by cabbies and I need not mention how they drive. SO so you are bound to encouter badly kept indicas. Manza is targeted at the premium buyer and seems a good choice. Atleast I would suggest a test drive before you decide to eliminate it as an option. I personally am very satisfied with the VFM package that Manza is so i booked my TD. TD bookings are available on their site : http://www.cars.tatamotors.com/IndigoManza/index.html

The petrol engine performs quite well in the car, is quite refined too. The FE will be in the 10-12kmpl in the city with AC.
