After seeing the Manza specs, just wondering if it makes any sense to continue the Linea Active and Dynamic trims. Manza is almost equally long, spacious, have all the features, except the alloys, auto-climate control and EBD. Engines options are same, in fact Manza diesel seems to be better tune than Linea both in terms of torque delivery (on paper again) and max power. It gives a price difference of 1.8L.

Will have to see and test drive to know and feel it. But just opening the topic for everyone to guess what is in store.

opendro,

manza and linea will have different clientale, for example i own an active linea-diesel and i will never buy a manza even if it offers all the goodies for one lakh rupee less, automobile market is huge and varied and catters to different needs and tastes,i will never buy a tata product or a maruthi product on any day,in fact beleive me i even rejected a free maruthi800,so linea has to continue in active variant too, atleast for some time(i preferred active variant because i can not maintain beige door pads with two dogs in company and i have a dislike towards chrome

besides who told you that manza is as big as linea,it's wrong,it's not about the vehicle length, the length of the wheel base also matters and in both linea is bigger, besides manza has a yuck look, targetted at the rural/taxi market,so any day linea over manza even if it's expensive by 2 lakh rs
(i follow and have a good time reading your thread in bhp)

Manza scores in

1. VFM

2. Rear Leg Room Space, its awesome

3. Power to weight ratio

4. Cheaper parts

5. More affordable for bigger mass

6. Fuel Efficiency

Linea

1. Looks (subjective)

2. Engine (Linea petrol - Fire vs Manaza - Saffire)

3. Boot space

4. Interiors

Surely Mana will eat away Linea active and dynamic. I am seeing a Fall of over 300 cars per month for Linea considering 30% of total sales of Linea comes from Active and dynamic versions.

Interesting.  If the Tata vehicle can give the headroom that the Linea lacks so sorely in the back, then I would consider it for my parents.

Sure the Linea looks better, but the interior plastics are really cheap - therefore it cant be much of a scoring point over the Tata unless Tata have deliberately made it worse (which I think cannot be the case).

Did you say the price differential was 1.8L????  How can that be unless they've priced the Manza really cheap?

Keep those wheels turning!

i belive manza to be true value for money...but the lack of superior fit & finish..is the biggest hurdle TATA  cars are facing...today consumers are ready to spend more money provided they get quality....HODA CITY  is the biggest example...no one can beat HC even though it is much costly than other cars...nevertheless....if 1 can afford..they should go for linea..otherwise manza is good value for money too...

It all depend on how the Indian Mindset works.

Remember Its a Diesel car. Its Big & Its Cheap. People a;ways had apprihension about the Dezier when it was launched for its shape & size , but now its a True success.

WOuld certainly like to see the car before i coment more. I only hope that Linea improoves on Plastic finsh quality & service network to retain the premium over compititors.

Also belive there should be some shift from Dezire if TATA has got a good package.

Good things in life are never too expensive.....So called Best things May be.....

Price difference of Rs.1.8 Lakhs? That's big money. Probably Tata-Fiat have done this to put both these cars in different segments - Manza will take on Dzire, Accent, Logan and Ikon while Linea will take on SX4 , Fiesta  and Verna. This seems very good in theory but surely there will be cross shopping and some migration from Linea Active and Dynamic towards top end Manza specially since these two cars will a few steps away from each other in the showrooms! Also, it's not like Fiat has a better brand name then Tata that people will prefer to buy the more expensive Fiat.

What remains to be seen is interior quality of Manza. The vendors are the same for both Tata and Fiat so if Linea plastics are downmarket then how could Manza have better ones? And if it does, then the same results should be seen in Linea and GP as well. The interiors look good in photographs but then none of us complained about Linea plastics when we saw it's pictures either!
