Friends, I had driven both - Linea and Manza. I even drove for a quite sometime Palio also.

While there is no doubt the Fiat producespretty powerful machines which you really enjoy to ride, it has many flip sides. The spares problem, no re-sales value, all these makes a wise customer a bit away from Fiat. Of course, people with heavy pocket can afford any machine including BMW or Merc, but then for him it is more of pride value than Value for Money. His first priority is brand not Value for money.

A common man looks more for return against his investment - the running cost, the spare cost, service easability, the re-sale value he can fetch if unfortunately he need to dispose off the machine.

So there will certainly be always high profile people who will opt for high end products, but I am sure if those who are advocating for Linea today, won't buy Linea if they don't have enough money in their pocket. Can they purcahse Linea if their pocket does not allow beyond, say Rs. 5 L? I don't think one will borrow further Rs. 3.5L and buy Linea (or any other car for that matter which falls in the same price category)? Surely, he will settle down with a price of his reach and justify his decision according to his circumstance.

Manza is really superb in driving and accelerates pretty fast - it does not give you the noise of diesel inside cabin, which is a complement. While moving above 50, it does not sound lilke a diesel engine.

Both cars will find their buyers - it happens in all segment, all industries. Even those products which are launched and flopped within a short span of time, do also fetch some sale - may be as a try by consumer.

Of course, TATAs are impvoing their quality. I still owns an Indica for the past more than 4 years. There was not even a single complaint except of normal servicing !!! no engine work, no gear box - just nothing. Its superb !! My family loves it and though we are buying a sedan now, no one want to sell it off - in fact many of my known friends are asking me to seel this Indica to them.

all points taken

but "the running cost, the spare cost, service easability" ... nah Fiat is out of those. Resale value? Yes, now thats a problem with Fiat

People dont believe Fiat as a good brand even now. Its a perception and it will change years to change :-|

Rest i agree with almost everything you said

Hi BS,

Could u pls share your feedback about Manza. Ride, Comfort, performance etc. I heard that there is a vertical shake at a bit high speed. Also car is not able to handle the highly bumpy roads...i mean the suspension etc ?

How do u rate it?

Thanks,

Abhishek

Based on Octobe sales figures, it seems like Manza has affected sales of Grande Punto rather then Linea. GP sales are down to 1200 units from 15xx in September while Linea is holding steady at 1000 units.

Having said that, i20 sales are up from 41xx to 49xx units. If people are going for Manza over Punto then they should go for Manza over i20 also specially since i20 is much more expensive then GP and Manza but somehow that doesn't seem to be happening. Is it only because the GP and Manza are in the same showroom so it's far easier for someone to switch over? Sales staff can of course, do their bit by saying 'sure i20 has 90bhp diesel but so does Manza and you get a sedan for lesser money!" Why then is Manza not affecting i20 as much it seems to be affecting GP?

I think the positioning of GP and Manza in one showroom does affect the GP sales. Simply because the Manza offers a great VFm package.

I think, it is up to the place where you want to drive your vehicle. If you are going to drive your vehicle in a good road, it is not a big problem. However it is rare to see a good road in India without much bumps and other damages on it, especially in rainy season. Linea has got a decent ground clearance (161mm for diesel), which would not be a big issue.

Have a look at this review on Manza QJD that was posted here - now relocated to Review Section.

I didn't get a chance to make warranty claim in my earlier Indica ownership. But in Linea, I had already claimed two times, once for link rod, second for a antiroll bar. Both of the cases were resoved in only one day.

I had also claimed insurance during my Indica and Linea. It is absolutely clean and smooth (AIG and Bajaj Allianz). I have my friend who had tough time to claim his insurance on a bunch of wires cut by rats from Maruti. So, there will always be some good and some bad experiences. I do have unpleasant test drive experiences in Maruti too. No point in talking about it. If I like a car and there is a support system, I will go for it irrespective of their attitude problem (maruti or whatever).

Hello Everybody,

I am contemplating Manza Petrol (Aura-ABS) as my first car. Has anybody taken a test drive of this car?

Moreover, has it got exactly the same engine as Linea? I know about diesel but am not sure about the petrol.

Regards

-Lucky
