PK, insurance companies generally reduce your premium by some percentage (Not sure how much) each year acknowledging you are a good customer and pay without asking back, It is called No Claim Bonus - NCB.

if you make a claim, they will not reduce your premium next year. As your car is brand new, the premium is high, and NCB also becomes a big chunk of money. As the next year's NCB is dependent on this year's premium, the gap in a claimless premium schedule and one with claims will always be there, and the penalty is recurring, in that sense.

The quantum of NCB for you would surely not be less than 3 to 4 thousand rupees. If your damage is more than this amount, you go ahead and claim. If it is not, pay up from your pocket, and get the job done at the ASS. Turns out to be  cheaper in the long run.

The details of NCB will be described on your policy certificate. For National Insurance it is 20% for the 1, 25 % for two consecutive years, 35% for 3 consecutive years, 50% for 4 consecutive years etc. No idea about Bajaj Allianz. May be more or less the same.

Also you will have to pay surveyor charges and depreciation charges (depending on the part replaced).

It is better to get a quote from your ASS for claiming insurance and for direct payment. Calculate which is better.

There is another consideration. If your renewal date is near, it is better not to claim even if the amount is slightly above NCB. But if you have recently renewed there is high chance that you may need to claim for some other minor accidents within the year which will be profitable in total.

NCB, if any (no claim), earned on the current Policy, will be transferred to your new Insurance Policy (other company).

I think some insurance companies enquire about the repairing works done with out claiming from the previous insurer while taking a new insurance. Go through the details at this site.

I had to post the link like that since I too forgot from where I found the info Frown.  It was in the online application form of a particular insurance company I saw some days back. I forgot which is that firm. The question was whether any repairing work was done without claiming the previous insurance, yes or no. No further details was demanded. No mention was there that this will affect the premium amount or NCB. Sorry that I could not give the correct link.

NCB will carry forward to new policy/company obviously if details of the previous insurance policy is made available & no claims have been lodged therein.

Is the damage only 800/- ? Then no need for claim. Compulsory deductible will be 500/- anyways.
